What'd you acquire this week?

Or get for Christmas!!!

I made my usual trek to TJ Maxx (haven't been there in a while actually), and I got these two GREAT things!!!

The turtle is cement-like; he was $10, and the birdhouse is quite big...probably 18" high or so- $14.99. Nice couple of projects to work on over the winter for my garden!!!

MM, both great finds and can't wait to see your creative talents on them. Love seeing that beautiful backsplash in the background.

WOW MM you are so lucky. WONDERFUL finds!! I too enjoyed seeing your backsplash behind them. I LOVE the grout color you choose.

Maria so sorry about your cold. So many are having them right now.:^(((

I did not even go anywhere this week. Does finding the tiles, for the trunk, in the bottom of my closet count??? Hehehehe

My friend and I went to TS's yesterday, and I got three lovely pieces to break, pieces for a partial totem, a piece to add to my exchange gift and another piece for my brother's gift which is similar to my exchange gift :)

I got 4 little boxes that will be awesome to mosaic. they were on sale for 75% off at our Safeway store. I bought all they had. At 1.50 a piece who could pass them up!! Its already lined with a type of velvet and everything! Its wood but has a leatherish fake like covering on it.

I got a big wooden tray for 5.99 and about 12 plates for 50 cents each. We spent the whole day out thrifting and I blew about 10 dollars.

Things I look for these days, always on the search for a spring horse and getting the hankering to do another mirror....

OOoooOOOooh......Love the turtle, love the birdhouse! Love the boxes! I went to the thrift store, found 6 small shallow bowls with 3 roses on each bowl:) for .50 each. Four plates with a nice bouquet of peach and lavender and light blue for .30 each, and a very old saucer with roses and other flowers all over it for $1,and an old Homer Laughlin platter for .50 that is lavender and white, with a beautiful edge to it. Went to another thrift store, bought 2 saucers with pink luster and a lot of gold with one matching tea cup,a small childs teapot and platter with a victorian scene of a man and woman,a trinket box with beautiful roses all over it to cut off,a pale blue trinket to cut up, a handful of spoons and forks for jewelry all for .97 :) And "O" is for Outlaw by Sue Grafton, I've been collecting all the alphabet books in hardback at yard sales and TS,got it for .50 for my relaxing times....lol, I know I'll relax sooner or later:) My DH asked me PLEASE don't bring home any more of "that stuff" til I have a place of my own to work:)......and use what I have already! As if....... I can't wait til after Christmas when people start giving their old stuff to the TS's and I will fill my whole truck up........because it pleases me:)

Lady Ronnie, It's the ride on toy horse connected to four springs... the older ones (like I had as a kid) are hard plastic. A gal over in the junkyard was mosaicing one and I just have to have one too. (Monkey see monkey do!!!)

would die to find one somewhere... but not on ebay for those prices!

Can you imagine, take it off that base and mount it on a pole WA LA carasel horse!

You know, I see the spring horses in the trash all the time here. I used to crackle paint them and put them on a pole and sell them. My daughter used to be my driver, got very good at pulling up to the trash and popping the trunk at the same time :) And a great "spotter",too. She's lucky where she lives now they have hard trash day and she brings home lots of goodies,we don't have that here....(she's in WA and I'm in MS) but I have found a few wicker chairs and an old white painted chair that was falling apart but had nice carved pieces in it.
