WOW! You are Glutton for punishment!hahaha! But in such a good way! I like the look of Hazie's Tiger Lily and so the brown glass is my vote. And the Gold box is adorable so far!

The glass one is so elegant and glitzy....I'd use gold grout. The rock one would look great grouted. On my guitar,
I grouted the rocks, then brushed most of it out with a tooth brush, to dig them out, and smoothed it with a wet sponge. Brown glass
would be great with the rocks. I'm in a brown earth tone faze, everything is brown right now with rocks!

I like the brown mirror glass idea under the rocks. It'd look BEST grouted, but don't know if I would either. You COULD use the baggie method so you don't have so much to clean off. Wish I was your co-worker ('specially since I've heard you can MOSAIC at WORK! Lucky girl!)

Thanks for the ideas girls!!! I went with some brown glass (tannish with brown swirls) and dark brown mirror glass.

Hazie- Im almost scared to grout the rocks! But will mull over how you did it and decide if I could do that with the toothbrush.

Ronnie- I did decide on brown mirror glass which I am gonna grout a tannish brown. It would be great having you mosaic at work with me!!!! I do get to mosaic at work but only during the slow times!!!

Nice- LOL...If I would have read this BEFORE I started the front I would have considered using sand instead of sand paper!!!! That is actually a good idea!!!

Oh, I LOVE them both, especially the gold one. Brushing the grout out w/toothbrush, as HAZIE suggested, is what I do w/the half marbles while the grout is still damp. Works fine.

I hate to say this but I'd rather see brown tiles on TOP of the rock box and rocks on 4 sides (maybe only the bottom of the 4 sides rather than on the top that opens - does that make sense?)

I think putting both the physical and the visual weight of the rocks on the bottom portion of the box will make a bigger impact (and be less clumsy to open).

I'd be skeerd to grout the rocks after reading posts where they absorb grout color. But thats me.

I've grouted rocks and shells and clean with toothbrush and toothpicks,need a dentist in this house LOL!

WENCH- I think what you said is actually a good idea...but Im not pulling off all those rocks..no way!!!

I was thinking of the black grout for the gold so...I will do me a sample board and grout some black and some gold and then choose which one I like. I have started box #3 but havent posted any pic's yet (ya think!!!) I will do that on another thread.

I will be getting out the toothbrush and dental pic for sure on this one!!!

I used to be techsupport8 but that didn't really fit me any longer so I went as mosaicwench1. Someone else must use mosaicwench (no number) because GW wouldn't let me have it.

So yes - that number has always been there on this forum.

I go by plain Mosaicwench on a bunch of other forums.

OH Chickee. Nice boxes!!! After hearing the scary stories of grout staining rocks I would be afraid to grout them too. I wonder if a person could use something like Tile Lab on them first to seal them up then try grouting?

I was looking at boxes today for painting or mosaic or. Very cute ones. I already have too many TBM projects I want to do but it was REALLY hard to resist. Boxes are always a welcome gift.
