Mac Glue is VERY transparent. It would be my first choice.

Mac Glue dries the clearest of all I've used. Weldbond is excellent also, but it takes forever to dry on big pieces.

When all is dry, the only difference front to back is you don't have the texture of the glass on the back.

Be sure to glue ALL edges or you'll get grout bleed which is a real creativity killer (not to mention looks terrible front AND back).

And with either Weldbond or Mac, you'll have to take the door off it's hinges and work flat.

I'm still meaning to go to the glass shop and ask the professionals what they use as I want to do my front door and will be using pale glass, if it's not too complicated, or expesive, I will try it, otherwise it'll be good ol silicone. Oh, man, I have soooo many projects I wanna do, I don't know if I'm comin' or goin'!!!

After having used the Mac, I personally would never go back to the Silicone if I wanted anything transparent/clear.
Love the stuff otherwise.

I agree with Linlee. I find silicone gets and stays cloudy if applied the least bit too thick.

When using Mac, do you have to cover the entire piece of glass, or can you just do the edges? I'm thinking of large pieces of glass.

Edges mainly...but the stuff is like water. It's
fairly easy to spread a thin coat around.
Keep in mind that it has absolutely no leveling ability if you have bumpy glass.

Please tell me more about this MAC glue? I have never heard of it, I dont think I can get it here in Australia. I have tried weldbond but i do not like waiting months before I can grout my project. Im a silicone girl but the downer to it is the cloudy bits you see when you dont scrape away the excess properly! Please tell me more about MAC.

They DO respond fast. I just emailed them about current availability close to me - response in less than 20 minutes. Turns out there is still only one bricks-and-mortar distributor, but it's only about 30-40 miles from me at a stained glass store I have been wanting to visit for some time. Hopefully I can get over there one day next week. Will let ya'll know what I learn.

Maryland Mosaics has it, but their cost is higher. The other retailer links they provide don't seem to sell online.

Guess I'll break down & buy some.

It does go far for the price though. That Moth picture
that I did with the tiny pieces was done with Mac.
It was about 2'x3' plus the exchange box and I still have bout 1/3 of a bottle left.
I didn't think that was unreasonable.
