Sorry Nice I'm moving in first...I'm bigger and older than you little girl!!!I thought a lot of us had a bunch of stuff but this is like Santa's workshop at xmas,I've never seen so many goodies all shapes all colors...oh my and the colors in your workshop are unbelviable,and your blue bottle tree is to die for....what adhesive did you use on it???And silly me I thought you were just a big truck driver who did a mosaic now and then,boy was I wrong.please when I come to slow's can I come see you place,I really would love to see everything!!!I love your backsplash ,I've been worried about my exchange gift but it sure would fit in your house or studio...oh well ..someone else may be shocked by it.LOL.Love your backsplash with all the fiesta..too cool!!!

OMG- LOOK at it!!! I love it! And I love the little cup-handle on the window-edge! It's really a great piece!
Did you have to fill those plates on the inside, or did you just glue the edges?

Thanks to all of you. Annie you have a standing invitation, I have offered my spare bedroom for any who want it, but Slow says you are staying with her. We will have to have a field trip to my place one of the days of the workshop. Nice, you can be adopted too along with the rest of the requests. I am in desperate need of a grouter, I love the design and doing, but hate to grout. I did just the edge of the plates upside down, I am getting ready to use some larger plates etc and am going to try Bondo. In Maarlene Hurley's book Bits and Pieces, she recommends Bondo for larger pieces as it sets up real fast. I will let you know how it turns out. I have not broken much Fiesta as I also eat off of it. I contacted many of the Fiesta selleers on and off Ebay and asked for broken items,most of them sold them to me for $1.00 per lb. so, I got a lot of it that way. Thanks for all the kudos re the shop. It is a fun place to work and I just have to look around for inspiration. I finally got my stash of dishes broken or cut and put on shelves.

That workshop is like a candy store! I really enjoyed all of your pictures, what fun! The backsplash is going to be terrific.

Oh FLAG you are an inspiration! Not many folks would bust up Fiestaware for mosaiking! But it sure does make you smile. So glad to hear you'll come up our way for the Tx. Mini-Convention in March. Now I have to go back and look at your studio photos. WELCOME BACK and hope you're feeling better.

Nah uhhhhhh - I didn't say that. Only ones who have confirmed that they're staying w/me are Bama, LADY/MOM. I don't think CRACK has ever said where she's staying - here or w/ROSIE. FLAG - I'm just blown away w/your inventory of tesserae. Of course, I said that last year when we visited w/you. You had a lot then, but it has multiplied. WHEN do you get time to cut all those things up, and do you use nippers or a saw? MY WORD - you have enough for two lives. Hey, I'll buy your house at double the market price, if you'll leave your studio. And, of course, your garden is getting better, what w/all those mosaics in the path that weren't there last year. Lordy, I don't know when you sleep. LOVE that backsplash - gonna be a real museum piece. Smart - using whole plates - fills in space fast, and w/such interest. FABULOUS

LOOOOOOOVE your backsplash!!! I wrote to Fiesta a few months ago and asked if they had broken ware available for the cost of shipping. They wrote back and said:

We do sell or give away broken ware but you are welcome to buy seconds and break them.

I wrote back and said:
I suspect that I am even welcome to buy firsts and break them. :)

Slow, I just sit down and cut. I break most of them by throwing at a couple concrete blocks on a tarp, then break the big pieces with a hammer, tumble in my trusty little concrete mixer and then dry and sort into jars and plastic bins. The Fiesta and Harlequin I cut mostly. I have some new dishes I found on Shop Goodwill and will use for a couple urns, If I can copy Lyndalu a little bit. These are a beautiful set but I have cut some of them, but can't get up the nerve to nip them. My yard us in the winter doldrums right now, but I am trying not to let myself get that way.So, therefore I stay as busy as I can. Thanks for the compliments everyone. Lady, I got most of mine from Fiesta Dishes. Good luck.

Flag, I am in awe of your work... the bottle tree is one of my fav's... what adhesive did you use for it? Looks like you just glued them to the wood... when I did that for a hose stop they all fell off...you must have something better than what I used... I think I used thinset... LOVE YOUR WORK!!!!! Flag, I had to come back because I just spent a lot of time DROOLING over the photos of your shop. How wonderful! That must be fantastic to have everything in one place, so organized, so bright, and welcoming.

Dottie- I used thinset and silicone. Mostly thinset. I hope they stay on. I sealed and sealed the 4 x 4. So far so good. If they survive the wet winter, I will be very happy. Thanks for the compliments. I have been working on the backsplash all day. I will do some new updates after I take off the masking tape in am. I can hardly type as I have bandaids on two fingers so far. Will heal by tomorrow.

Oh FLAG!!! So Good to see you posting again!!! I have tried(pitifully) to emulate your workshop!!! I'm a mini me!ha! Your backsplash will be so beautiful when done!! And will also copy your yard!!! ha! WOW! All that Eye Candy!!! I'm standing in the "Adopt Me" line up! (Did I mention...I LOVE to grout!?!?)

Flag would you like a fiesta teapot?I think it is Chartreuse , I have several pieces,not antique ones but the chartreuse is retired I think.I can't get to them til wed when ny DH goes to the ranch ,he can bring them to me...if you have a place for it let me know .I think I may have a gravy boat also,isn't that awful I don't remember what all I bought.I was going to make a fiesta birdbath with the teapot in the middle.
