Red box and chair WIP

here is the new box I made to replace the rock one.

{{!gwi}}

I also started on a chair that I got from my husband's grand parents. Its a really old chair that I wanted to do forever. Well forever is finally here!!! I started out not sure what I was going to do but here is what has evolved so far. The center glass glob and beads are not glued yet cause Im trying to get a feel for it to see if I like it that way or if I want to change it. Suggestions on this are highly appreciated!!!!!!

Color choices on your chair look Middle Eastern, I hear finger zimbals in the distance and maybe a camel snort.

It's awesome, can't wait to see what else you do with it!

red box is really pretty, I like how you're breaking that glass to fit in bigger chunks.

    Dang Chickee,

I am trying to get to see your pictures. Something is blocking the chair. I did get to go see the red box at the Photobucket album but the chair will not come up for me. Darn!!!! Tried everything I can think of.This is why I have not posted to this sooner.

Anyway I loved the rock and shell box and the red one is BEAUTIFUL too!!!

Thank you all, Im having fun doing the chair. I havent got to do anymore than what you see here.

SHADES- I'll post a link to my photobucket site cuz I didnt put it in the other one because its not finished.

JOY- I did all 7 boxes in one week. I started to get the hang of it and they started to come out really fast.

NICE- I think the bigger chunks looked better for this and I fit them as I cut them so they fit just like puzzle pieces. Middle Eastern huh? I'll have to google some Middle Easern designs to see what else I should use on it.

CALAMITY- antique road show huh? We tried that joke with my FIL and had him believing something he gave us (a boy scout backpack) was worth 1000) he fell for it for quite awhile!!!!

They all loved the boxes, they were given last night.

Here is a link that might be useful: Link to my chair

Thanks Shades!!! NT said it looked Middle Eastern so I checked out some designs in that style and I am continuing it (hopefully) in that type of designs. I'll be posting some more pic's on it soon.

BEAUTIFUL job on both. Anxious to see the update on the chair. Been on a search for a long time for the perfect chair - ever since TASYMO on the Junk side mosaiced one.

oooh, love the red box. And that chair is going to be amazing.

I've also been hunting and hunting for the perfect chair - or at least a chair with some character. I found a really good one for the child's chair that I did, but haven't had luck finding a regular sized chair.

    Love yours, chickee!!!!

Here is what I have done lately to the chair. It certainly is going to be colorful thats for sure. My MIL gave me two more (which are at her house still) one is just crying out for shabby chic it has a wooden rose in the center at the top.

I have to thank NICETHYME for her description of it looking Middle Eastern cause that got me the rest of the colors Im using. Its actually going quite fast.

Im thinking of grouting this black when done...any other suggestions??

SLOW and LYNDALU- good luck on finding the right chair. I know its not always easy I got really lucky getting mine! Chairs with character are hard to find. Most chair lately I've seen are just plain chairs no life to them!!!

Thanks, Chickee....and thanks for the updated pic.....WOW, it's looking absolutely beautiful. Very cool design.

OHMYGOODNESS - how beautiful is THAT. I have every one of those tiles or sheets of mirror in my stash. Almost out of that wonderful goldy yellow, from Mosaictilearts. You are doing a fantastic job on that chair. LOVE those color combos.

The mirror tiles come in sheets? A mesh backing? And did you just cut and lay them in... or pull off the tiles? or....?
Sorry for all of the questions but that definitely a WOW chair and I love it! I can't get over how fast you've done it... and how WONDERFUL it looks!

Your chair is fit for a QUEEN or KING! I'm sure your husband's grandparents would be so proud! Red box is great! Lovely work!!!

FIDDLE: Mosaics/Maria sells the mirror tiles as well as small sheets (I think about 5"X8", but I cut mine from sheets that I've bought from Delphi and the shop in Little Rock that closed. Go to Mo/Maria's site and check them out. She has Van Gogh on sale now, including off cuts in it. You should have SEEN ROSIE and me in that shop. The sheets of mirror was as tall as we are, and half as wide. I've forgotten now, but I THINK we shared a couple of sheets of it.

Around the edges are red mirror glass then red vitreous tile (with foil underneath it to emphisize the color) then light gold mirror tiles with buttercup vitreous next to that. I did buy the mirror pieces pre cut but have a few sheets of uncut mirror glass that I could cut if I wanted to. The tile I bought on sheets of 225 per sheet and soak off the sheet. Im hoping to be done in about a week cause I wont have time to work on it till this weekend.

Thank you all for the compliments cause this is out of my comfort zone!!! But Im liking it!!!

I'm really lookin forward to seeing more of it!
