My New Doo Dad Workshop ..

I've just set up a brand new workshop in my basement dedicated specifically to Sculpy clay . I Wanted to buy all sorts of different things to incorporate into mosaics - but knowing me like I know me - I'd spend a fortune. So I thought - hey -- I can make ANY doo dad made to order, just using Sculpey ! So now ....... I have an official

DOO DAD factory in my basement !

Just call me the DOO DAD DUDE-ETTE .... LOL

I really would love to see a pic. I've admired the artists who make their own tiles for mosaics. Can't wait to see what you create!

The dudette will be doo dadding ....

Dang doo-doo head! (Or something like that).
Ice storm eh? Got plenty of milk and bread? That's what us southerners usually mob the grocery stores for when ANY amount of snow or ice is called for!LOL!!
I can't wait to see what you will be creating.
I've only used the stuff on one occasion. I used to work in a custom frame shop, and I used sculpty to make a copy of my antique lizard pin to go onto a custom frame. I took a blob of the sculpty, pushed the pin into it to make a mould. Baked it,(the mould),then I could reuse it over and over to make as many copies of the lizard pin as I wanted. Neat stuff, it was!!
Here is a link so you can see my sculpty Lizard. It's on the upper right corner of the page.

I can attest to he fact that TMG and I spent the weekend cleaning out our workshops and making room for more stuff . . . .it's getting rid of the OLD stuff that's the problem!

You are so right ........ Ms.Wench and I were doing the exact same thing ... the only problem was ....... Ms.Wench offered me awesome stuff - and I had no room for it !

    *Sigh*

    I know I'll be sorry later .....

NO ROOM??? What about DH's parts(past tense) of the house??? There is always room!!! ha! Bama: Love that pin! One of my favs actually...I think it's the curves and I used to catch salamanders that were a wonderful dark chocolate brown with a bright orange underbelly, ahhh, the memories...

LOL Taken at the base of my fountain a couple of summers ago. Little guy came to visit the big funny plastic one I could NOT resist at a yard sale. I mead WHO can resist a big plastic salamander for 50 cents???

I also had them as a kid when we lived in Berkeley,California. I had this so cool pond. Wish I had it now it would be covered in mosaic.

TMG got any pics for us yet??????

TMG...I just got done doing my first mosaic with Sculpey. The grout was really hard to get off of the pieces. I coated them with protectant before I applied the grout but it didn't work in certain places so I had to sand the clay down. What did I do wrong? How did yours turn out?

    Amie, got pics???

I honestly am still moving stuff around my "workshop"
( read: table LOL ) I planned on coating my clay with Liquid Sculpy and then a coat of acyrlic varnish . That's the plan anyway . What kind of protectant did you use ? I'm wondering if Sculpy doo dads should just be glued on afterwards ...

I have to get my rear in gear and start something !

I just used a regular spray sealant. I thought that if I can just get a light coating on the clay to protect the grout from penetrating then I could seal it better in the final stages.

I'm at work so I don't have pictures with me right now, but I will load some when I get home tonight.

Here is my sculpey mosaic, it is a WIP. My goal was to replicate a picture of my daughter taken on her first birthday. After I grouted I noticed that there was a lot of white space so I am trying to fill in some of the spots with paint. I'm not real happy with the result so far but alas it is just an experiment.

I appologize too, I've been working all night so the picture isn't very good either.
