Lead solder question

Has anyone ever heard of painting over lead solder with clear nail polish to avoid handling the lead? Someone suggested that to me and was wondering if anyone has tried it or have other suggestions.

I'm making a kailedescope for my GD. I ran out of lead free solder and had to solder the wheels you turn with lead solder. I'm also going to solder ball chain on them for turning.

Can't see why it wouldn't work.,or spray sealer maybe? Krylon.?

I painted clear nail polish over some jewelry that was irritating me - it wore off so fast - I think it might have flaked off. I'd take a little brush and try painting on some clear varnish .

**Dontcha hate it when you run out of something when you're almost done ??

Thanks for your suggestions, CJ & TMG. I hate working with non lead solder. I messed up the first set of wheels and ran out of the NL solder. So now the new ones are getting lead solder with the intent that I can 'seal' the lead. I think I will try the nail polish first. TMG, I can see that it would rub off by sliding constantly on your skin but not sure that would happen with the kaleidescope.
