Rockport Gray?

Has anyone used Rockport Gray as their exterior house paint? If so, could you post a picture?

patty, thanks for the info! I've tried RG on my house and it reads a green/gray but I not sure if it will be too dark. Odd thing is that on one section of the house it look dark and over the garage door it looks so light. I'm going crazy trying to figure it out! Did you neighbors' use white trim? Colors for shutters/front door? I really appreciate this - the painters are coming on Monday!

LOL. I just went outside and walked down my driveway in my robe with my cup of coffee to recheck the neighbor's RG home for you on a cloudy morning here in Atlanta. It is a greenish gray/khaki and I still love it! It is not dark, even on a pretty dark morning here, but a little darker that the BM Camouflage (light greenish gray/khaki) that my siding is painted. The Camouflage looked very dark to us when we painted just a small area over our previous pale yellow siding to test it, but in fact it is quite light when all the siding was painted. It is tricky to judge any color from just a small area painted over another color which is much lighter- any color will look much darker than it will be by itself.

To me and other neighbors this RG home still is the prettiest color on the street and no one thinks of this house as "dark" at all; just the opposite, it is a beautiful medium greenish gray. In sunlight it reads less greenish and more khaki-gray They have creamy off-white trim, no shutters due to the style of the house, and a black front door. Just my opinion of course, but it really is a great color and I remember the name because I asked them specificallu so I could use it on my next home should we move! When they first painted it everyone stopped to find out the color and compliment them on their choice. Let us know what you decide.

Oh, Patty. Too funny. The things we do for our GW friends. arapaho, I almost went with RG on my house but went with Copley Grey because I wanted to go darker. (Copley Grey is on the same paint strip.) I think RG is a lovely color and some days think a lighter color would be nice with all my white trim. I am curious on what color roof you have. That was my big issue. Trying to find a color that would play nice with the roof. Patty - Can you run back out and look at your neighbor's roof color for me ;-)

Anyhoo, I think one of the nice things about the taupe/grey/greens is that you get to see different colors depending on the light outside (shady or sunny.)

Good luck! Please post pics when it is done!

We all have to have the same roof in our neighborhood so I know it is the same as mine- a dark gray.

patty0315 - Thank you so much for your investigative reporting! What a big help it is. I so appreciate it! I was just outside again this morning looking at RG. It originally looked dark to me but I think it's because it's up against a light gray with lavender undertones that the previous owners used (a SW color). I'm trying to stay away from my neighbors' beiges on either side of me.

kitchenkelly - Why oh why did I not write down all the specifics about our home improvement projects!?! We just got a new roof a couple years back - it's speckled architectural shingles in a darker brown/gray I think. I need to look and see if I can find it on the receipt from the roofer. After we got our roof, two neighbors got the same one or close to it!

You guys are great for helping. I am living in the dark ages without a digital camera so need to get one to post a picture. I would love your opinions!

kitchenkelly - would you be able to post pics of your house? I'm considering Copley Grey and need to decide by Monday. Have samples of 2 other colors on my house at the moment, but they seem washed out. Thinking I need to go darker.

Bumping up this old post to see if anyone has pictures of their house painted Rockport Gray. We are repainting after less than 2 years because I made the wrong choice (I went too brown, too dark)... I want to make sure I get it right this time. Thanks!

The first and third photos in the top row in the link below show home exteriors painted Rockport Gray.

We built last year...I have Rockport and Copley throughout our entire interior. Love it! I don't have pictures at the moment at am away from home but wanted to reply. We've only been in our home one year so I haven't completed very many decor projects...I'm so slow at decision making! I think the color is moody but serene!

My favorite accents have been white, cream, yellow, charcoal, pale pink (my two yr old's room!) and I'm using green accents in my kitchen (lighter green plants, ceramic bowls, stacking different shades of green cookbooks)...

Do you have a lot of foliage or flowers outside? I think yellows and whites would be lovely with this color.

    Have fun!

Oh, and I don't find rockport too dark. My ceilings are quite high so rockport is saturated on some pretty big walls. We also live in the woods so at certain times of the day our home doesn't receive a lot of sun. I think the Copley gray is a bit dark but I love it...I have it on a few walls in my kitchen and living area.

And u r correct...it does read green-gray...or more like gray-green depending upon your door color, flowers, ect....pretty!
