Black fixtures would be classic, timeless, and beautiful on your home.

Oh how beautiful! Your entrance has a formality to it that would dictate matching materials, I think. Black lights will be an elegant touch to your lovely home. Please post pictures when you're done!

I agree with the previous posters re: black fixtures. If you really, really don't want black, a high-quality brass (lacquered bright or antiqued) would also work well with the formality of the entry.

As for the ceiling fixture, have you checked out Rejuvenations' flushmount fixtures instead of a kinda-blah recessed can? The Holgate and smaller Vaughn have a 4.5" canopy which would work with the curve of the ceiling and would look lovely on your Colonial Revival exterior, along with the matching Dundee (yum) or Oxbow Park wall sconces flanking the door. (Since they're under a porch, unless you get a LOT of wind-blown heavy rain damp-rated fixtures are fine in most jurisdictions, but check your local codes.)

I vote for the black fixtures as well. Timeless. Classic.

They will need to be an elegant design as they will stick out like a sore thumb against the white background if they are not elegant.

We had the opposite situation, in that we had a black door with lots of glass. We went with brushed nickel lights that had a lot of glass to complement and not contrast the new black door that itself also had a lot of glass with black 'piping' inside the glass. We felt to have black lights as well would have been over kill. You can see some pictures in the link below.

Now, there is also a question of how much black? You can get wall light designs which have a small amount of glass and a lot of metal or others which are vice versa.

I also suggest you consider motion sensor wall lights. That way you can leave them on all the time for a very nice appearance in the distance yet save on ectricity consumed.

Thanks all, looks like black is the winner. Love those lights at Rejusinations, you mentioned Johnmari. I'll have to measure tomorrow to see how a flushmount ceiling light will work out.
