Don't you hate it when things are sold out?

I've been renovating my living room/dining room for the last couple of months -- removing a closet, painting, replacing carpet with hardwood, updating the fireplace. I'm really looking forward to the decorating stage -- that's when things get fun!

So I spend many evenings surfing the web, coming up with ideas for furniture, rugs, lighting, etc. After much thought, I decided on a hanging pendant for over my dining room table. It is from Pier One, and really fits the warm, retro, slightly exotic feel I'm going for. And it's within my tight budget. So yesterday I drive to Pier One and -- you guessed it -- they're sold out. I guess other people agreed with me that it's a cool fixture. They "might" get more in after Christmas. What a let down! When you finally make a decision and you're all excited and ready for that gratification, and then you're disappointed. Ugh. And Pier one recently got rid of its online store, so that's out.

Ah well, back to pondering. Knowing me, it'll be after Christmas before I make another decision...

Just wanted to vent. Thanks!

Here is a link that might be useful: here's the pendant

That is a cool pendant -- in fact, I have it in my tropical-inspired workout room. :-) I hope they'll get more in, and you can grab one after Christmas. In the meantime, you might get lucky and come across one up for sale on eBay?

What I really, really really hate is when I CALL the store to see if the item is in and rush right over there and then find out they lied or didn't even bother to check the shelves.

Pier 1 has seven "seasons" and they rotate their "look" quite often. When they sell out of an item they usually do not get any more in especially in the accessories department.

I love pier1, but really miss them having their inventory online. Love the pendant and hope they get some back in.

Is it sold out in all the stores or just near you?

Hi, there is a Pier 1 close to me. I'd be happy to check and see if they have the light fixture there and mail it to you. Let me know.

I ordered a little bench to match one I already have on May 5th. It was back ordered. I finally got it on August 26th and it was broken in the box.

I'm still waiting for the back ordered replacement to come in. It might be another two weeks.

The item is still for sale on the company's website, despite the fact that they can't even fulfill an order from August. It's amazing what some companies pull.

Wow, Susan. That is so kind of you. I can't believe how helpful people are on this forum. If you can find the light fixture, I could send you the money to buy it and send it to me. Thanks so so much.

I will check the Pier 1 close to me also. If they have it...I will e-mail you immediately.

I heard yesterday that Pier 1 is going out of business. I don't know if it's true or not but it came from the person I've been working with to custom make my window treatments.

I'll call them tomorrow to see if they have it. Let you know.

diymadness, if that fixture is available in any of their other stores, the sales clerk at your store should be able to find one for you and have it shipped to your store for you. I'm surprised they didn't offer. If preferred, their customer relations should be able to help you as well, and can be reached at (800) 245-4595. Can't hurt to try!

The stores in Louisville, KY are checking and according to their computer they have one. They are to call me back.

Thank you all for your help and advice. I asked the salesperson at the store about ordering one in and she said they couldn't. But then again, she looked about 17 and didn't seem that interested. I'll give the store a call and see if I can speak to a grown up. I'll also try the customer relations line.

For those of you checking the stores for me, I can't thank you enough. The e-mail address on my gardenweb account is outdated and I can't seem to change it. Maybe you could just give me a heads-up here on the forum and I could e-mail you?

It's so amazing that people I don't even know can be so kind.

"I heard yesterday that Pier 1 is going out of business. I don't know if it's true or not but it came from the person I've been working with to custom make my window treatments."

I heard that rumor also...on this forum as a matter of fact. So, when my local Pier 1 wrapped the windows in brown paper, I thought "uh oh...they ARE closing." the store stayed that way for about a month, and then all the sudden, they were open again and had re-done the entire store. It looks amazing! I asked the manager about the rumor and she acted dumbfounded. I don't think that Pier 1 would have gone to so much trouble to remodel, if they were all going out of business. However, a store in your area could be closing.

My Pier 1 does not have the Buri Lamp, but they looked in the computer and found one in Glenn View, IL.

They can special order it and ship it to your house. You could call me, or the Grand Forks Pier 1 to arrange it. There will be about $20 for shipping.

Let me know if you want them to order it. She's going to call me back in a few minutes.

My store does have a tear drop shaped hanging wicker lamp,

and the hanging Maki Lamp with is very similar to what you're looking for!

My local Pier One checked their store and the last time I spoke with the clerk, they were searching on the internet at their other stores. She has not called me back yet as to whether she found one, but hopefully one of these other leads may pan out if she can't locate it.

I checked our local Pier 1 (south Orange County, CA) and they too were out. I swear, I love going to Pier 1! My pulse quickens and I feel light-headed when I walk through the doors. There is just so many things to love and desire. :-)

I was in Pier 1 today and they had your light. I asked if they ship and she said they'd ship to another Pier 1 store. If you want, email me and I'll give you their phone #.

    Nice light!

DIY Madness...Yooooo-Hoooo. Where are you! LOL

Jane in NY found your lamp and I found one for you in Illinois (no easy feat since I'm in North Dakota! LOL)

Are you still looking for the lamp?

Hope she checks back. They had two left sitting out on the shelf in the store. Maybe if we keep bumping this...she'll notice,
