Room layout and decor problems

Hello all. :)

This is my first time posting on the forums. Till now Ive just been a regular stalker. :p

So, this is my rooms layout:

I am not allowed to change the color of the walls, which is a light offwhite. The floor is tiled, sort of a light brownish color, sort of marbled. The closet is brown, as well as the study desk and the sidetables. Due to some issues, the bed is a steel iron frame, but it does not have a headboard. Its one of those folding beds. It is a single bed.

The table behind it is a folding plastic table used for my odds and ends. Yes, it blocks one doorway, but it is not much needed or used. The other two doors, however, are essential and cannot be blocked.

The windows do not have a curtain, but I'm working on that.

It does not feel like a bedroom. Its not relaxing, it does not make me feel peaceful.

All furniture items can be moved except for the closet.

I'd love to know how you guys would change the room to make it look better. Oh, and to add to the mix: No wall hangings, etc are allowed. No drilling in the walls.

And it is a pretty small room.

Not many options left, huh?

Any help at all would be appreciated! ^^ Thank you so much. for reading this far.

I have a few thoughts. You could move the bed to the opposite wall with the head against the wall and the foot of the bed going out into the room. That way, you wake up to the view out the window (I hope there is a tree or at least open sky). I love waking up to the trees. If your drawing is to scale, you may have room for a bedside table on each side of the bed. Then, the desk could go under the window which gives you an additional chance to look out. Your plastic table could stay where it is or go where the desk is now. Get a pretty tablecloth or just a piece of fabric to put over it to add color and softness. Pretty sheets, a couple of cute lamps, and a bedspread you like will go a long way in making the room cozy. Good luck. I hope others chime in with their ideas.

Have you looked at the Bedrooms thread in our Gallery? Another thread you might enjoy is the Show Me Your Cottage Decor thread. Both have many photos of gorgeous bedrooms. Save the pictures you like best to a folder on your desktop. Then try to figure out what you like best about them. This will help you learn your own taste.

From the photos you can pick a color scheme you like. Color is hard, but if you're seeing it in a picture and love it, that will help you a lot.

You can also get ideas on the styles you like, plus ideas for storage and so on. Since you have a computer desk in there, you might also look at the Offices thread.

If you close out this thread there is a link to the Gallery at the bottom of the page, and at the top right of the list of threads. Once there, there is a search engine at the bottom of the page.

Enjoy! And feel free to ask all the questions you like here. We love photos too, since decorating is such a visual thing. So please post photos.

I was going to suggest the same layout as cyn. I immediately thought to move the bed out of the corner.

In a small room, it's important to take advantage of vertical space. Maybe replace the plastic table with a bookcase or ladder book case.

Tension rods, or even shower curtain rods, are a great way to be able to hang curtains if you can't drill into the walls.

To decorate the walls, I'd look for the vinyl cling decorations that are popular right now or use 3M Command Adhesive picture hooks. They work great!

I know you are asking about layout, but when you get that done, think about this. You'd be surprized by what you can hang from a mere straight pin. I have hung light weight pictures and wall hangings from them, and when you pull the pin out the tiny hole can be covered by merely running your fingernail over it. Those Command hooks might work for you too.
