I considered Quiet Moments and I have a painted sample. I found it to be as you describe. I instead chose Gray Lake, which is more of a gray with touches of blue and green.

If you put some fabric or fiber with your swatch it is easier to make the best choice. I was using grayed blue/green drapes and a rug with a blue ground. I tried many different paint colors at all times of day, and one element of the scheme always looked wrong either at night or during the day, until I hit on the right choice.

The other thing that could help is to get the paint swatches that are on a strip. The deeper colors on the strip might give you an idea which way a color "leans".

I've often heard of gray wisp being referred to as blue. I have it in MBR and it reads a soft gray green. I don't see blue at all. Color is a funny thing. Or maybe I see things differently. In any case it's a lovely color. Very soothing and seems to work well with many other colors.

Thanks Jamies and tannatonk. I do look at the darkest color to see the undertone but these are so similar and the affinity colors don't work like that. I will have to check out Gray Lake. Never heard of that one and I seem to have every swatch from every company (well just about).
