Kitchen ventilation

Hi all ... I am new to this forum and from the looks of it, it looks to be a great site for what I need. We are pretty big DIY people, and are going through a kitchen remodel which is about 2/3's complete ... new appliances, flooring, cabinets, concrete countertops, etc.

The last phase involves knocking out a wall between the kitchen - dining room and opening up some space. The stove backs up to this soon to be knocked out wall and our dilemma is how to vent the newly purchased stove. Currently the range hood above the stove is a circulating air type, but there's no place to mount one, with the wall coming down. The plan is to build a hi-back bar on the back side of the stove for people to sit, look into the kitchen and talk. We've considered mounting one of the retractable vent systems into this hi-back bar cabinet, but are unsure of how effective it would be. If we went with a hood we'd like to duct it to the outside, but there are no plans to add cabinets above the stove; i.e. no place to hide ductwork. I'm thinking the retractable vent to be the answer, but just have no experience with these.

Any help-recommendations on this are very much appreciated.
