Google Sketchup :] though it has just been bought and turning into Trimble Sketchup...I've been meaning to try out your new layout when I get a free moment!

Mvjc - looks great! What's the learning curve like?

I found SketchUp very easy to learn, FWIW. I was able to do basic 3D drawings within an hour or two. There are some great training videos on the web, most focused on just one task so you can pick and choose. There are also a lot of good "component libraries" that let you drop in things like cabinets, appliances, etc. without having to draw those yourself. All of this used to be at sketchup.google.com. I think it's still there while Trimble takes over, but I'm not 100% sure.

This album has some drawings of my kitchen design that I did with SketchUp to try out different possibilities.

Disclaimer: I'm a software engineer, so I tend to learn computer programs fairly quickly. Full disclosure: I work for Google, which owned Sketchup until a week or two ago. :-(

Mvjc- Thank you...that's very nice! But, I'm going to try one more option, so let me see how that works, before you do any more sketches :)

Laura- I'm a little computer-challenged at times (LOL) but I appreciate the explanation.

Cali- Are you going to try it?

That looks great! I tried Sketchup one time but just couldn't get it.

Marti- Didn't Mvjc do a wonderful job? It's such a pretty kitchen, but my concern with my recent layouts is that everything is too spread out. Great when the nieces/nephews are 'helping' in the kitchen, but lots of extra steps, when it's just me working in the kitchen.

I've been playing around with a more compact idea that I like, but probably will not be popular on the forum. I'm going to 'walk through' it a few more times, before posting anything new :)

LL - I may give it a whirl, esp as our remodel plans are at a complete standstill....good way to kill time ;)
