Hardware opinion

I want to keep my forward motion going...

What do you think of this hardware for my kitchen? I had wanted cup pulls, but I think I really like the same thing on my drawers and my doors, so I'm thinking about these handles instead. I also like the price of these as compared to the cup pulls. It would be in oil rubbed bronze, and it is about 3 3/4" long.

Here is the handle:

My faucet and pendants in ORB:

A couple of my cabinets, not yet installed:

My range wall has all drawers, but I couldn't get a good shot of that wall, so that's why no photos here.

Do you think they "go" with the general feel and style of my kitchen? Thanks - SQ

They go, but are a tad on the busy side, I think. Your faucet reads more vintage than the pulls seem to me. I wouldn't consider it wrong.

Your cabs look great. Everything seems to be moving fast for you.

I think the pulls will look fine, but how big are the man hands in your house? Make sure that they fit well. Nothing like watching a big strong man delicately pinching a pull between thumb and forefinger, pinky extended, while ever so quietly under his breath murmuring about "dollhouses"...

I love those, and in a picture, they look like they are in the same mood as the faucet. But you'd better hold a sample up to your cupboard. I was in love with Tudor by House of Knobs (same as Tuscan by Top Knobs) but when I saw them installed on a display kitchen, I realized they'd be too much for my space. So be careful about putting too much detail in the hardware. You already have detail in the cupboards with the glaze and mullions and beading. You don't want to upstage those pretty cabs, just complement them. I think ORB will look great on your cabs, but pewter or nickel would be nice, too, probably. You don't have to make all the metals match if you don't want to. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and bought a bunch in different styles and finishes just to see, and I was surprised at what I liked.

I think they go with the feel of your kitchen but wonder if they might be too small for your drawer stacks. How big are they?

That measurement of 3 3/4", is that the external tip-to-tip measurement or the interior where-your-hand would go measurement? They are pretty but maybe a little too fussy with your cabinets and faucet. I think your faucet and cabinets look great together but I'm not sure about the handles.

I'm actually wondering if they are a little on the small side too. Many of my drawers are wide - 32" or 36". Would having just one of these be too small? Should I be thinking about putting 2 on each drawer? That definitely seems "too busy" to me. More than one person has mentioned that maybe they are too fussy or too busy as it is for my cabinets. Do you think maybe I should revisit the idea of cup pulls for the drawers and maybe some type of plain knob for the cabinet doors? I'm thinking that simple is the way to go here, right?

I knew that the hardware was going to be super difficult for me. Just so so many choices! If anyone wants to throw out any suggestions to me, I'd be more than happy to hear them. Thanks - SQ

I think they're fine if you like a very detailed look. The cabinets do have places for the eyes to rest. If you don't like brocades, for instance, they may be too much.

I have two knobs on my drawers, but only ever pull one. I think a standard size pull or knob in the middle of a great big drawer looks lonely. As long as you have good rail hardware, it doesn't matter for operation.

Yes, one of those pulls is too little for a 36" wide drawer stack. And yes, I think simple is the way to go with your detailed cabs and faucet.

You might want to check out Yoda's thread on the front page about pull sizes to think about how long you'd like your pulls to be.

Thanks breezy - I'm going to look for the thread you mentioned. Did I mention that I knew this was going to be a struggle for me?? SQ
