My disposal is on the smaller side. Why? So that the larger side could be used for washing dishes, large pots, delicate items, etc....

My sinks are equal, so the disposal is on the dishwasher side, which happens to be the left.

So I work right to left. Larger scraps usually go in the trash or to the outside dogs, but if need be, we are able to put food scraps down the disposal side while the right side is for washing dishes. (I only use the dishwasher as a great big dish drain)

Ours is on the right in the large bowl...the opposite side from the DW. Two reaons:

(1) We soak and scrape most things in the large bowl so that's where we need the GD

(2) My DH does most of the cleaning up and he likes to use the small bowl to soak flatware & utensils while using the large bowl for the rest of cleanup. The small bowl uses less water for soaking and it puts the flatware & utensils next to the DW (they're dripping when he puts them in the DW, so less dripping on the floor!)

Thanks for the replies!

We have the same sink as buehl, and let the installer convince us to put the disposal on the smaller side. We've regretted that placement since day one, and suspect that we will one day switch it to the larger bowl.
