Wow! I remember that orange formica and lovely wallpaper -- such a delicious change. Beautiful, clean lines. I really like your Backsplash -- isn't it amazing what you can do with squares? Also like the floor tile and pattern. Can't wait to see the totally finished project.

    Thanks for posting!

    Great job!

I don't see anything wrong with your old kitchen. Such a shame that people rip out perfectly good kitchens just for a *new look.* I hope you were able to sell that stuff to a salvage shop.

Okay. Joking. That was one hurting kitchen and you definitely deserve a remodel!

It is looking great. You know I love those windows! Can't wait to see more.

OMG, your old kitchen looks a lot like one of my aunt's when I was growing up except her's was predominantly avocado green with orange accents! Your new space is beautiful! You must love working in your kitchen with all those beautiful windows! Do you mind sharing the name of your cabinet hardware? Your backsplash is lovely--love the copper accents! Do you like having a sink right next to your cooktop--any problems with that arrangement? Thanks!

flwrs n co - I LOVE working in my kitchen now. My old kitchen was soooo dark. The hardware is Hickory Hardware's French Twist. I also really like the sink next to my cooktop. I mainly use it for a pot filler. It was so handy last week when we canned almost 100 quarts of green beans. I have not had any problems with this arrangement.

Your new space is looking great. would love to see a pic that shows how it all looks together...hard to see on these but it sure is coming along great. Love the windows. c

Hey - I LOVED that orange formica when I put it in my kitchen in 1980!!!!! (first house) With a bamboo formica backsplash I thought it looked great. Wonder if its still there.......
But your new kitchen looks absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!

In some of your pictures the floor grout looks white and in others it looks darker. Did you treat it or seal it or was white the grout you were looking floor? I am "tipie-toeing" around my new $20,000 kitchen because the grout dried white and probably I should have picked a shade 2-3 shades darker. Your floor is beautiful, I love the stones.

My grout mistake is driving me nuts...I may seal and enjoy for now, or I may try a grout colorant.

Your windows and view are beautiful!!!

traceee - Yes, my grout turned out whiter than the color chart. It was supposed to be gray. And yes, there are places where it's darker than others. It hasn't been sealed yet and I have been considering a grout colorant also--just too much going on now.

Countrygal, I was just wondering the other day what was going on with you. So glad to see your progress! It's looking really good! What's left?

Stunning yet warm! Now, how can I get a view like yours for out kitchen?

jsweenc - I still don't have glass in the upper cabinets. Yesterday, I took the doors off. I'm considering open shelves. With the doors, it really restricts what I can display. I'm going to live with the doors off for a little while to see if I like it. If not, I'll get the glass and put the doors back on. I'm also considering grout colorant since the grout came out whiter than planned and is uneven. We also have a few trim pieces to put up yet, nail holes to fill, etc.

That is such a ridiculously pleasant transformation, it's hard to believe it even has any relation to the old space! My husband and I are "camping" in our restored home and until we got back there, I swear I had forgotten how much humans crave sunlight (which you have in abundance in that kitchen and we have in our house!). We've been, as my hubby says, "living like mushrooms" in our ratty temporary apartment.

I'm not surprised that you had the energy to can that many green beans in such a knockout kitchen.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

grlwprls - I do have so much more energy to work in my kitchen. When I took the pictures, it was shortly after we had 35 people here to eat and in and out all day. It is so much easier to clean up in this kitchen than my old one. traceee had mentioned about darker places in the grout--that could have been dirt also as lots was tracked in that day and I hadn't swept the floor.
