Edge for window ledge?

We are going to do a ledge in granite for the bottom of the kitchen window. I have an ogee edge for my kitchen counters planned, and then I was just going to do a straight edge for the window sill. I thought the ogee edge would be kind of too ornate for the window sill and you can't bring the sill out to meet the molding of the window with ogee.

For those of you that did a granite window sill, did you use the same edge as your kitchen counters?

We recently put in granite with an eased edge. The window ledge also is eased. We have shaker cabinets and I was going for the angular look. When making the decision, the ledges I had seen were bullnosed and I thought I liked that, but the granite dealer said he thought both edges should be the same or it wouldn't "look right." I went along with that and am glad we did. That being said, if you use the ogee, you lose part of the ledge to put things because of the step down. But if that doesn't bother you, go with what you like.

We did do the same edge (bullnose) as the counters. This is the best pic i have.....

Exactly, I don't want to lose some of my edge just for the ogee look since it takes away so much of the ledge. The granite place I'm working with suggested straight or a waterfall edge. I plan on putting little potted plants on my window sill so I'm trying to get as much granite space there as possible.

We did bullnose on our counters, and bullnose on the window ledge as well.

If my granite was in (Like it was supposed to be yesterday), I could have shown you my window ledge. I'm getting ogee over bullnose, cuz that approximates (only upside down) what we have on our regular wood window sills in the rest of the house. The counter will be an eased edge.

But, we have greenhouse windows, so the ledge is just an ornament, not meant to be used to store anything. Though can't remember now, if I did have them make them a little deeper... been so long... I forget. Wish I could show you...sigh...

    We have ogee on both.

Just wanted to mention something else.. we put in the backsplash after measurements were done for the window ledge. If you will have a backsplash that has not yet been installed when granite measurements are taken, you should take that backsplash material thickness into consideration when you plan the ledge or your overhang might not be what you expect.

We did eased edge for counters and same for window sill. Does your fabricator have any suggestions? If he's done many kitchens he might be able to give you some suggestions or better yet may have pictures of jobs he's done that he will let you look at. Let us know what you decide.
