LMAO here!! I've just spent 12 hours in kitchen showrooms and sample kitchens at HD and Lowe's. Most of the add-ons they have are things that I could build for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy less than the prices they (don't) have posted.

I spoke with a "kitchen designer" at HD yesterday about a couple of things, including an under-cabinet shelf that is made especially to hold pots and pans. For that one piece, it was nearly $400!! My DH could build that for about $30, using one piece of plywood and some drawer glides.

I also saw that options for a towel rack to be mounted underneath my sink, for about $50. I can buy a towel rack for $10 in a dozen places and put it up myself.

My DH is the one wanting all of the KFS stuff. He wants a 5 burner gas stove when all he ever "cooks" is coffee. #1, we don't have gas available at our house, although it would be handy in a hurricane situation. #2, I'm not overly fond of gas for cooking, but that's only because I haven't used gas in 15 years or more.

My personal KFS is a french door fridge with the freezer on the bottom. Of course, that won't happen for quite some time because I have a less than 4 years old side-by-side fridge. By the time I'm ready to buy another fridge, there will be something new and exciting on the market, I'm sure.

my kfs would have been the 48" liebherr fridge/freezer/wine fridge set up. I possibly could have made it work for the budget but absolutely did not have enough wall space.

possibly a little wine tasting grotto-type room off of the kitchen with a chef's table??
