Ordered ticor, got c-tech from galaxy tool supply

Got my ticor sink today from Galaxy but there are two problems. One is that the sink and the directions say "C-Tech" not ticor. Further, the directions call it zampina. This scares me.

Also, there appear to be dents in the stainless at the midpoint of the top surface where the 2 bowls meet. It looks as though the steel was folded at that point at some time.

I talked to jared at galaxy and he said he'd send me out a new sink and that c tech is a division of ticor.

so, is c tech the cheapo, denty version of ticor? should I skip it and find something else? i have been having trouble finding this configuration in this size....it's the biggest that will fit my cabinet....and everyone here is always so thrilled with their ticors from galaxy, i thought it was a safe bet. the sink is "ticor" 6504. does anyone have any experience or understanding of this? do your sinks say ticor?

There seems to be something weird with C-tech. I ordered a C-tech sink last month from ecounters and it never arrived. When I called to inquire about it they told me that the sink I ordered and several similar models were not actually available. I then checked on Galaxy's website and noticed that they had removed all but 1 of the C-tech or Linea Imperiale sinks from their website. I couldn't really find any information on C-tech anywhere other than the company website that Galaxy tool's customer service provided me. The sinks looked good in their marketing materials and they had the unusual shape I was looking for--and I had searched everywhere. I contacted the company and they told me that the zero radius sinks in their brochures including the combination D bowl with square side bowl that I ordered were handmade and when they received the first shipments of the sinks they were flawed and deemed unacceptable for sale. I don't know how this affects your decision, but I was completely furious that they sold me a sink that didn't exist and no one bothered to tell me that they couldn't get it. I am also annoyed to see that ecounters still lists these sinks on their website--the sinks are all on sale and the site still claims the sink will ship within 5-7 days! I've now had to start all over with my sink quest (which was long and painful the first time around). I think I finally found something that will make me happy today and I am thrilled to be done with the search. Good luck.

thanks, paigeysmom, and I'm so sorry about your sink troubles.

can anyone else help me? I have to call them back tomorrow to see if I want them to send another sink and I'm not sure what to do?

    jessie21,
    1. In the pictures of the link you posted, I don't see dents in the stainless at the midpoint of the top surface.
    2. My Ticor sink from Galaxy (arrived just about 2 months ago) just said "Ticor" everywhere and had no references to c-tech.
It sure doesn't sound to me like you're happy. They're offering to replace it and make things right - I would let them. Talk to your rep/jared and confirm that the new sink will be the exact one you ordered and will not have a dent where you didn't expect it - just so everyone is clear on what to expect. Best wishes!

We bought C-Tech-I sinks for our remodel about a year and a half ago. Friends had used them in their remodel and recommended them. They were very nice. Price-wise, they were similar to the Ticor sinks but at least for the ones we bought, their sizes/shapes were slightly different than the Ticor models so it seems odd that you could be sent one in place of a Ticor. The ones we got are 16 gauge and the price included grids, the basket, ring and plug for a drain and a nice steel colander (not one that hangs in the sink shaped for it - just a large bowl shaped one).

They came packed very well with a big red cloth bag around the sink inside the packing case and had no scratches or dents.

Their sink names are all Italian. I think they are suppose to be designed in Italy but the are made in China. Their web site stresses the Italian connection and doesn't mention China. We got the Masilla and the Acacia. But I don't recognize the name Zampini and I don't see it on the C-Tech-I web site. Did yoursin a big red cloth bag inside the packing?

It sounds like Galaxy sent you the wrong sink by accident. Have you called them yet?

At Galaxy Tool Supply, the C-Tech-I sinks appear to be much more expensive than the Ticor sinks. They're the "Linea Imperiale" sinks. I don't think it's a "cheap-o" line at all...it may even be better than Ticor..but not sure. They do have some interesting looks! I almost wish I had seen the one Paigeysmom's got...I think it's a cooler look than my similarly configured sink! [Note, I am very happy w/my sink...no real regrets!]

However, I don't see one that looks like the Ticor SS6504 so I'm stumped as to why you got what looks to be a Ticor sink in a C-Tech-I box...does the sink have any markings on it?

As with ChefKev, our Ticor sink (S405D) came with Ticor printed all over the box & instructions (that was in January of this year).

I would definitely call Galaxy Tool Supply and ask what's going on. If nothing else, at least get the sink replaced w/one that's not dented!

[As a side note, I did notice that the SS6504 does not come w/sink grids.]

Well, I did call gts and they told me that ctech was a division of ticor. I also wrote to ticor and they said ctech is a division of ticor. I'm still confused.

Cloud swift, it did NOT come in a nice big red cloth...just a clear plastic bag.

The sink itself is clearly marked c-tech-I.

Judging from what people say about their ticors, I can't believe this is one because it wouldn't have been dented for one thing....can't be 16 gauge. It was quite inexpensive....only 155.

This really was the configuration I wanted and it's been hard for me to find it, but now I'm wondering what I'm really getting and what the quality of a non-defective one will be.

They offered to send me a new one...I am guessing it will still say c tech and I told them I wanted to think about it. I may want to shop elsewhere, just not sure.

thanks to all who replied to me, i'm just not real good at this!

Yea I am fairly sure Ticor is a different manufacturer than C-Tech-I. There are distributors that do carry both brands, so that could have been the case. I have ordered four c-tech sinks from this c-tech sinks distributer and they all come in red bags. I think he said the only ones that don't are the builder models that tend to be inexpensive and a little lower grade. So, sounds to me like they didn't have the Ticor model but picked the closest C-Tech-I model (by appearance), possibly a builder series. I don't know?

    Hello
I'm remodeling my kitchen and I don't know what makes undermount kitchen sink more popular than aprons or even overmount. the granite company mentioned a Ticor sink as brand.
I only need an advise from customers
    Thanks

Well personally I went with the undermount but I also like the apron sinks that go under the countertop. I have seen some apron sinks that have a lip that goes over the countertop which I don't like. But with the undermount you can just push crumbs right into the sink without having a lip like the drop in sinks. It also makes the countertop area look bigger because there is only a hole and faucet. An apron sink you really need to make sure your cabinets are designed or cabinet maker can accommodate for the apron sink. So I would go with an undermount or apron. Hope this helps.
