Backsplash opinions

I am so sick of making decisions.

I think I have narrowed it down to this color in a 3"x6" subway tile. Its from Artistic Tile and the color is Moonstruck. It is a subtle green blue in a satin finish.

Anyone have any other ideas for me. I tried 1" tiles and thought it was to distracting for the granite.

Thank you in advance

I don't know what the rest of your space is like, but I love that color tile. I agree with you that the small tiles with the granite looks too busy.

I love the tile... love the satin finish and the fact that your not going totally monotone with a light tan tile. It's a soft look, brings in some subtle color, and will make your beautiful cabs look even richer. Great pick!

I also love the tile with the granite, the dark beautiful cabinets and the paint color. Are they Tiger Wood Floors? Your floors are also beautiful.

Lynn2006 they are Tiger wood floors I am a little nervous to see how dark they get I love the way they look now.

I think it's perfect for your space. I love that you will get a nice shot of color.

    BTW, your kitchen is fantastic.

    Thank you Ebse.

I am still amazed that it takes Professionals 3+ months to do this I have never done a project of this scale and I am on my 6th or 7th week if I had everything picked out I could of been done a week ago but I am to busy working on it to pick stuff out. Not sure how they do it in 30 mins on TV either.

I love that tile!! It will be gorgeous with your granite and cabinets.

(Love that you have wine bottles in place already!!)

Gorgeous! Go for it, it looks amazing.

Is the paint chip next to the tile the color on the walls now? The wall color you have up now looks very nice. If it were my kitchen I would use a less blue tile. There's a high end kitchen display that has your color cabinets with calacatta gold counters and they used a white glass tile 2" square tile that has a hint of blue and it's stunning. A think that color is more elegant. The blue color will look much stronger with many tiles up. I would go with a more muted, lighter, grayer, less blue tile.

You can use any shape with the granite if you keep the grout color close to the tile color so you don't see a grid. It's not too busy then.

Wow, the granite and the cabinets look amazing. I have to agree with Blondelle that it seems like the tile is too blue. Your granite is so amazing, you don't want the tile to take away from that. Like she said, maybe something with just a hint of blue would work a little better.

I would use something like this.

or the tile below. More elegant and won't fight with your granite for attention.

Some other options I have looked at.

I like the one on the right and agree with the others about the first one being a little too blue but I prefer the subway tile posted by blondelle to all the other choices. Many on this forum have used a subway tile for their backsplash and it looks very elegant.

oh, and I hear you when you say you are sick of making decisions! So am I! When I finish with one, I feel like doing a dance of joy but then it is on to the next one! So many decisions left to make but I can't wait to sit back and enjoy it all once it is done. Good luck, you are doing great so far!

I still think I like the first one the best the blue/green glass. Let me know what you all think.

how do you manage to get such big samples?!?!

i am also in the process of picking my backsplash, i have bianco antico which is pretty close to the colors on your granite. although i love how green/blue glass tiles look, i have been staying away from anything with even a bit of green/blue, because by looking at a blue/green tile with my stone, they dont seem to mix. but it may be just me. i also think the iridescent might be too busy for your stone however, i do like the pearl iridescent with the green glass, you may just be able to pull it off with that, since you are blending in the brown/green/blue.

Here is a pale blue glass backsplash the cabinets are different, a pale blue/white - but it will give you an idea of how the blue one would look on a big wall. Hope it helps!

I am by no means a designer and haven't got an artistic bone in my body but I feel that the glass tiles take away from your gorgeous granite. To me, the Nordic Ice is the focal point of your kitchen so a better choice would be a neutral like a white subway tile, or one that matches the colour in your granite. My granite is in no way as beautiful as yours so I'm going with glass tiles but they enhance the granite and don't compete. I think those tiles would compete. Again, this is my humble opinion and I have no designing qualifications, not even a completed kitchen to justify myself!

You have some very pretty elements in your kitchen and I love your granite, it's gorgeous. I'm going to play devils advocate here a bit, and make a suggestion if I could. That white glass tile looks stunning with your granite and dark cabinets. It really pops beautifully, but I think the paint color is wrong, there's not enough contrast with the beige so it looks washed out.

I would definately use the white glass tile for the backsplash, it's beautiful. For paint color though, I'd color match it to the blue gray tile you have in between the two mosaic samples. If you don't want blue gray on the walls I would try finding a gray tile that matches one of the silver or grays in your granite and then have that color matched instead. Grays a neutral and it will look amazing with what you already have. I realize there is a touch of beige in your granite, but I just don't think the beige fits all of the elements well and at least on my screen it lends to the pink side.

I vote for the white subway tile! You definitely want to showcase that beautiful granite.

I vote for the white subway tile (no green tint). It will match the whiteness in the granite (which does not have green in it).

I like your original pick. Beautiful and very cool and clean looking. Still very much neutral but just awesome with the granite and deep colored cabs. The white subway is my just a tiny bit behind 2nd choice. Would still look great but just very very safe. I don't think the color in the first tile takes away from your granite as focus, just sets it off perfectly! And love the 3 by 6 size too.

I too vote for the icy white - it's stunning and will look beautiful in an of itself while showcasing your granite. Then do the paint in the icy blue/green.

I mean the small glass white Artistic tiles - second choice would be a white subway, just to clarify.

I think most of your options would work in the end, but I think your first choice is simple, clean but adds a bit of fun, instead of the plain/tried & true. I think your choice is subtle enough that it won't take from your countertops, that's my opinion. You can use a creamish or brown grout to tie in with the counter colors vs. plain white. I did that with subway tile & it gives it a whole different look. Best of luck!

Go with your first choice, it's a real stunner -- in a subtle kind of way. The hint of blue-gray is gorgeous with the other colors. White would be a little too safe & blah, in my opinion.

I like the white subway tile and paint the blue/gray color idea but, I am not painting again period. I have lived in this house for 3 years and painted all of it and the living, dining, entry and kitchen have all been painted twice now. I just painted them about about 3 weeks ago for the second time. Did I mention I despise panting.

As for the sample sizes I have a friend that owns an awesome tile shop and she lets me take what ever samples I want home.

I think I have it narrowed down to either the satin glass blue green subway tile or the satin glass white subway tile and leaning towards the blue green one.
