Bed height question

We have a queen 4 poster. It is high up from the floor, (23" bedskirt) which I love. Trouble is, the posters block my view of the TV.We can't position the TV any other place than where it is. Do they make beds that are up high but don't have 4 posts? Platform beds are too low. If I just bought a headboard how could it attach to a bed frame and still be higher up than a regular bed?

A simple solution would be to go downstairs when I want to watch tv!

Yes, they do. The reason I know this is because my husband, a bona fide couch potato, would come to bed and complain about how he could not see the tv. (I know, don't you just love him.....) After Katrina, we had to buy new furniture, and that was the first thing on his mind (very sad, isn't it?) that in the new bed he would be able to see the television while in bed. We have a fairly tall headboard, but the bottom/footboard (is there such a thing) is much lower, so we get to watch NCIS, Law and Order, CSI, all night long, praise the heavens. ("not.")

Still a work in progress, but you can see how much lower the footboard is than the headboard.

"We can't position the TV any other place than where it is."

    Can you move the bed??

Without photos I don't know what the space looks like. I mean can you angle the bed instead of thinking that you have to move the TV?

    For more height get risers?

Wodka, I really like your bed, who's the maker, if you could share? I do think the lower footboard is more compatible to TV watching. :)

Years ago, I had to work with a queen-sized bed with large thick bedposts. Had we not moved up to a king and gotten rid of the bedframe, I was looking at sawing off the posts at some appropriate level. Just a thought if you like everything about the bed but the posts.

mpwdmom, thank you. We bought it at a furniture store (chain) in Mobile, AL, called Home Place Furniture. Here is their website. I couldn't find ours, but they have some that are similar. They have stores in several states, so might be one in your area.

If you want to just use the headboard, you can get a standalone metal bedframe with extendable legs, then just bolt the headboard to the wall. We used to do this with brass headboards.

You could cut the posts off of the bottom but not sure how this would look and it hurts me to think of altering a beautiful four poster bed -- some day you may want to use the whole thing intact again. We have a four poster rice carved bed with the same TV problem and I just "look past" the post. No way would I ruin my gorgeous bed for a television.

Wodka, your husbands twin brother is at my house. lol. After they poured the slab on the new room, my husband and the builder actually measured for his new TV and TV stand, so a window won't go above it and he can see the fireplace at the same time which will be in a corner.

About not seeing the TV, a handyman could easily erect a shelf for the TV. My son has a high shelf in the corner of their bedroom doorway. Someone takes up after their father!
