I've seen them white at Michael's and that's the way they came.

There are naturally white pumpkins out there. (Are black ones just around the corner? Those would be freaky cool!)

Is there a tell-tale sign that the ones you are seeing are fake ones from craft stores that have been spray-painted?

Gosh, I didn't realize they sell them that way. There's a Micahels 1 mile from me, maybe they have some on sale to get rid of them as the store is loaded with Christmas stuff now. Was there briefly the other day but wasn't looking for pumpkins..

I bought real white pumpkins and had them mixed in with my fall decorations. Also the light blue-ish grey - I can't remember the name of those, but I love them!!! Again, REAL.

That said, I have also seen where people are painting the faux pumpkins. Nothing wrong with that. One I remember she painted it kind of an off-whitish color - just enough to not be stark white. She also then used a very light shading in the "indentions" which made it look very realistic.
