WOW! I'm impressed! I love the shape of yours, and I sure didn't see anything like that on eBay. And here I want to darken mine. You may want to try what I am going to do eventually - I'm going to use antiquing glaze, but you could highlight yours with Rub N Buff or something along that line.
Yours really does look like bronze.

OH That is so elegant looking. That rub and buff is easy to use. Would make some nice highlights.

Okay - Jeane I'm looking on eBay to try to find a deer head like yours....and I come across this...not exactly what I had in mind :-)

I think a real one would look better. My parents used to put a red ping pong ball on my dads real mount at Christmas time, very festive.

Here is one just like the one I bought. You'd never guess how different it looks after it is painted! I paid $29, plus $15 shipping for the one I 'won'. This isn't the seller I bought from. Mine arrived with one antler broken already, but since I was going to paint it, I didn't complain about it. Little did I know the same antler would break again... Anyway, it wasn't packed very well.

BTW, I didn't have any Rub n Buff on hand, so I used some glitter mineral eyeshadow on him. I thought it would catch the light. It helped a little, but not enough. I think after Christmas I may try the Rub n Buff first, because I really do like the dark color. I also thought about painting some of the leaves in the garland around his neck, and maybe putting some 'snow' on the leaves and the pinecones to lighten up the garland.

That looks just wonderful, fantastic job! I think these resin deer heads you all have are so neat.

You had a great vision of the finished product...I saw that same one on eBay and thought it looked cheesy but your paint job made it look completely different - very classy.

You did a great job decorating your deer head in a sophisticated fashion. My husband's twelve pointer isn't quite so refined.

These are more expensive than the ebay ones, but this guy's deer heads are pretty unique. He'll paint any color you want.
