Ikea Poang chairs

Found a deal on CL for 3 of these with matching ottoman/footstools to put in the attic bedroom where my sons will stay when they visit. Amazing chairs. I sat in one and it was so comfy. And they are very lightweight and easy to move. Perfect for an extra bedroom, and very inexpensive.

I love my Poang chair and footstool. I wanted one for a long time, but had a hard time justifying spending that much just for me. Then a couple of years ago we were at IKEA for my annual Mother's Day visit there, and my DH and 2 DS's got it for me.

Still love it, still the comfiest chair in the house for me!

We got a drk brown leather one with the foot stool last Spring. I am sitting in it now...DH and I fight over it :) c

We have two in the basic off-white for the family room. Very comfy. I'd suggest spraying with Scotch-gard right away as IKEA fabrics are not at all stain resistant. (I wish I had.) Other than that no complaints.

They make a rocker now - anyone tried it?

DH has a Poang chair as his chair in the living room. He loves it. I'd loe to get him a Womb chair or Eames long some day, but he loves the Poang!

Yes, I have tried the rocker, but I prefer the regular Poang so that I can put my legs up.

I have also tried the Poang recliner, and it is very comfortable, eliminating the need for a separate footstool. BUT, I found it very hard to get out of easily.

Have one in my office with the footstool. Was a no brainer. Great chair, plus I found it at my neighbor's yardsale, brand new, never used $10. Happened upon it just when one of my leather club chairs was in need of retirement. Sadly, that went to the curb, but the Poang is a superior replacement. Enjoy.

    Poang, poang, poang. Love them!!

Billy and Poang are classic ikea. perfect design

Love them here too. We scored a brown-black frame with an off-white leather cushion (chair and ottoman) on c's list, basically brand new, at half-price. I'll admit that not only are they comfy, but I like looking at the chair from the side. The line of the back is pleasing to me.

I'd add 'expedit' to that list, pharaoh -- I see the square expedit shelving units in high end mags frequently. And of course I'll probably be working them into our study and guest room/craft room remodels : )

That said, I will also admit that the poang chairs, the billy and the expedit are some of the few things that Ikea isn't cheaping down on recently. I'm really sad about the quality of current kitchen cabinet doors - wow, the wood ones look horrible. There's a cheap plastic-like finish on even the ones that are supposedly real wood or wood veneer--we can't buy replacements for DD's nexus birch bath if we need them because the birch now is like birch colored plastic (and it's not laminate, it's still called 'birch').

We have two Poang chairs, one from Craigslist and one purchased new. LOVE them. We have one in our basement family room and another in the den of our beach house. For one of them, I purchased a very cool cover from a web site that makes slipcovers for Ikea items... of course I can't remember the name of the site now, but the covers are really great. Mine is turquoise/orange paisley and fits absolutely perfectly.

I have one in the guestroom and one in the finished basement, and a footstool.

A year or two ago, when I was at the store, I spotted the "spring green" fabric cushions and could not resist. Someday I'll put the still-nice-looking natural-fabric cushions up on Craigslist.

I recall having a guest over at the house. He was a college kid, but really tall, muscular, brawny. I had my fingers crossed the whole time he sat in the chair! But absolutely no issues!
