Are the cabinets you're looking at Bertch Legacy? If so the are great cabinets, I went primarily with Bertch's lower end, but did draw from their Legacy line for some cabinets. I think you will find the details of the cabinets reflect that they are a custom line of cabinets and that attention to detail and quality is reflected in their semi-custom (Legacy) as well as their stock line (Marketplace). I also considered the other two mfg's you mentioned but felt I was getting higher quality via Bertch (did a lot of in-person looking) in addition to being able to draw from their custom line for anything that you need (trims, odd sized cabinets, etc.), their finishes are the same across all lines allowing you to pull from any you might desire (of course the higher end offers more finishes than the lower so I don't think you can go as easily backwards as you can go up).

I have Legacy cabinets. I am sure I got "rooked" on the $$$$$$ cost of my cabinets. They are really good solid, well built cabinets. I think they include soft close hinges on drawers too!

I bought 7 wall cabinets off a craigslist seller today. I paid $500 for all 7. I'd like to get some base cabinets to go with them. Just curious of a ball park I should expect to pay when shoping prices on them?

*The pictures show 36" H Cabinets. Mine are 30" cabinets. However, the cabinets are exactly the same except for the height.

You got a great deal on some nice looking cabinets. My best guess is that average price on the lowers is likely to be in the $500 range. Of course that will go up or down depending upon whether you do drawers, etc.

It seems that the legacy bertch and the legac I speak of are two different cabinets.I spoke with some local cabinet shops and they say they are a builders grade cabinet,but I cant find much on here or online ..think ill stick to the kraftmaid

Wow, SO I just heard back from the designer that worked with the guy I bought the cabinets from in NH. I asked to get prices on matching base units. I expected them to be high. But I thought they be about 20% lower than what she quoted me. Anyone think I should shop prices with other design centers that carry them?

Here is what she quoted me-

Googling these stock numbers shows that they are Bertch Legacy cabinets, and I think this sounds about what I'd expect them to run. Be sure to google for current mfg. promotions and ask to have them applied to your order (other places seem to be offering 25% off any one upgrade) -- some of these things they'll "forget" to mention to you but will apply if you ask.

I would also call around or e-mail to get additional quotes -- there are probably other dealers in your area (look at Lumber companies).

They're good cabinets, I think you'll be pleased with them -- at least I have been with mine.

Thanks Chris. This quote actually came for Milton Lumber in Milton, NH. But I will check into mfg promotions and other quotes. The quality of the wall units (not installed yet) does appear to be good from my little handling of them.

This is an old thread but just in case anyone is trying to make a decision between Kraftmaid or Legacy--- absolutely look at Kraftmaid. People told us to consider Kraftmaid but we were nervous about the cost and went with Legacy because we thought it would be a good value, a balance between mid-level quality and cost. The quality control with Legacy is TERRIBLE. We thought that we must have received a bad batch for some reason, with the paint color varying in shade from cabinet to cabinet, the drawers sliding poorly due to cabinet box openings being inconsistent in size, wood showing through where there should be solid paint, etc. but when we pointed it out to our cabinet salesperson he said this is pretty standard manufacturing for Legacy, so there's nothing to be done there. We will never recommend Legacy to anyone. Completely unacceptable and a mistake we will have to live with for many, many years.

That's awful Elizabeth. I carried Legacy many years ago for awhile (as a lower end option), and they were OK. But when we started having more issues, we dropped the line. We also carry KraftMaid and I'm so impressed with them these last few years...really stepped up their game!

Another update to an old thread, and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. We bought Legacy Presidential series, and while our distributor has been great about turning in all the badly painted doors for warranty replacement (bad out of the box, not sure why it’s considered a warranty claim), we can’t get resolution on the support pegs used for the interior shelves. The support pegs provided (clear plastic) could not be adjusted by me or our contractor - they mostly broke because they were too tight in the holes. The contractor said he never saw them before, although he's worked with Legacy many other times. Our distributor has tried sending various options, but none fit into the holes consistently. Now she’s asking that we (customers) re-drill the holes ourselves. Has anyone had a similar experience, and how did you resolve it?
