Cool rooftop garden kitchen

I really like this kitchen, with the exception of the horrible TV that is - what were they thinking? And yes, I noticed that there doesn't appear to be an exhaust hood for the Aga. Still, I like the feel and look of the space.

Where do you think the fridge is hiding?

Check out the slide show on Apartment Therapy.

Those are fridge drawers to the left of the Aga stove. I am not sure but they might be Marvel branded for Aga.

I don't think that NYC has a ventilation hood requirement. Vent hoods are not vented outside, they are recirculating, nor are bathrooms actively exhausted either, but there is one of those vent ducts in each bath and kitchen that is run by one of those turbine vents on the roof and vents continually.

I doubt they use the Companion for grilling/frying that often -- making tea and baking cookies when it's raining outside? It looks as though they do most of the smoke production outside on that big grill, and they probably have great cross-ventilation in that kitchen. I would be curious to see the "real" kitchen: how bad could it be?

Technical details and baby Agas, etc., aside, this kitchen really has it all as far as I'm concerned. The relationship to the garden of a rural cottage, wonderful city light views at night, and I'm guessing at least a dozen good take-out and delivery restaurants within a quick stroll of the elevator lobby. Nice!

In the East Village? That main kitchen could be absolutely abysmal :) And it may not make sense to take up any more living space to make it better.

They probably spend a lot of time up here, it's great.

Ah yes, I see the fridge now. I wasn't paying close enough attention.

I love the relationship of the outdoor garden and the inner garden space. As you say rosie, the combination of the rural/garden/cottage with the city setting is pretty special and seems very well done.

I'm sure you're right pal, I expect most of their time is spent up there, weather permitting - they have lovely outdoor dining and living rooms and a simple and elegant "garden" kitchen linking the two outdoor spaces.

    Definitely nice.

I'm seeing more and more black kitchen cabinets - is anyone else noticing that they seem to be gaining in popularity? The first black kitchen I really loved was here on GW - it was a DIY kitchen reno for under $2k I think - great kitchen.

    Thanks for posting!

I love it. All except for the stools, which I cannot see spending anytime enjoying a meal on, but maybe if i was under size 10 and under 30. Oh and the show on TV. They should watch something color coordinated. Ina Garten's show would look good there.
