Wenge wood and a chiseled edge on the countertop. Wenge is pretty pricy. So is the chiseled edge. It's also impractical as it snags your clothes and is difficult to clean. Great for a bar or little used area or for that kitchen that no one cooks in.

Thanks for the quick response! My contractor did point out that a jagged edge would snag clothes and not be safe for children and since I wanted it for all my counter space, yeah, I guess it would be impractical. But it's gorgeous!

That photo doesn't really show much of the cabinet - so I'm not sure how you can make much of a determination about the wood used for the cabinet.

I cannot even say that it's not laminate !

Re: the zebrano. It's just like any other wood - its grain varies an the look can differ depending on how the veneers are sliced - that's even if it is wood.
