range and 30' counters

hi

Does anybody have a picture of a conventional range (the ones with the controls in the back) and 30" counters?

I am thinking of running a strip of 6" countertop in the back so it will be ready in case in the future we change the range to one with the controls in the front...

Will this look too weird? Thanks as usual!

yes that will look wierd, don't do it

it will be like a tunnel back there and hard to clean, plus you'd have to have 30" deep cabinets or pull them out 6" -- for something you MIGHT do in the future? Forgeddaboutit

I tend to think it would be strange as well. But maybe you could actually raise the countertop behind the range, sort of build a "box" so the countertop rises up 6" and then is flat across the top, flush with the top of the range? That might look ridiculous, too, though. Then when you replace it with a slide-in, you remove the vertical pieces and have the flat piece reinstalled flush with the countertop. . . . assuming it works with the slide-in you're installing. Heck, nevermind, Ignore me.

But I'm just thinking out loud.

    Thank you. That is disappointing
Does it mean I cannot have the ranger with the controls
In the back and 30" counters?
I actually thought of something like Jakabedy is suggesting
Like a box in the back flush with the top.
Can I leave the range recessed instead, with
30 inches counters on each side?
    Thank you, how dissapointing!

Could you make a bump-in of 3 inches behind the range, with niche above that is bumped out to the 3 inches? Make it look intentional?

Better would be an insert range of some sort, with deep niche behind that extends up to hood. That eliminates high top part of standard range. You could even make a tiered niche, with two shelves. Or a warming shelf. Very handy if you're a real cook.

I'm... confused... last time I measured my 30" range (the old one that I'm replacing with a 36" Fratelli), it was about 30" deep. It's the standard kind with a raised headboard-like thing at the back that has the timer, clock etc. on it.

I'm just confused because 30" ranges always look pretty much square to me. Aren't they always about 30" deep?
