We have the EverCold. One thing I may suggesat is too see if you can get decibel ratings on them. Our EverCold is quite loud when working. We have it installed in the powder room which backs onto the main kitchen sink where we have the filtered drinking water faucet and you can hear it working in the kitchen. It's as loud as a bathroom fan.

You should also check the coldest temperature available.

Ours is set on the coldest and the water temp is 53 degrees. I'd prefer it colder.

I am also planning on installing a water chiller and have narrowed it down to the Everpure Polara which delivers cold water only just like the Evercold. I think the reason you are finding the Everpure Helia model to be so much more expensive is because it delivers both hot AND cold water. I didn't know if you know the Helia does both hot and cold water so I just wanted to pont that out. I only want cold water and I was able to find both the Evercold and Everpure Polara for around $500 on the internet. I haven't bitten the bullet yet and ordered anything because I'm still in the early phase of my remodel but I think ordering on-line is the way I'm going. I got an $800 quote last week for the Polara at a plumbing supply store and that was for the chiller only not including the faucet.

I'm a little worried about the noise like lovestocook mentions so I'm going to see if I can find out more info on the that for the Polara. The details on the Everpure website say it is "whisper quiet"...I'd like to know what that means in decibals! Also, the water temp is advertised to be "chilled to an ideal 50 degrees".

It's funny, I've been to a few different appliance stores and the salesmen have all discouraged me from getting the water chiller telling me I am going to have problems. My husband really wants the water chiller (and that's been his only request when it comes to this new kitchen) so we are going to get one. It seems like a lot of people on this forum have them (and the insta-hot) and they all seem happy with them. I hope all goes well!

Apparently the standard rating conditions for water coolers are 50F outlet @ 80F inlet and 90F ambient.. that is how commercial water fountain coolers ("pressure coolers") are sized and apparently these residential undersink units are considered small versions of those commercial units. So the gallons per hour are based on 50F outlet water, even if the thermostat could go down lower. I'd prefer lower too - if I really can't get colder than 50F, I have to wonder if maybe ambient+ice is a better way to go.

Also, the Helia is listed as having an "ice bath" refrigeration system - that implies lower than 50F outlet water. Another question for Everpure, I suppose..

The "ProSelect" I was looking at turns out to be a rebadge of the Oasis/Sunroc R1P. I'm planning to call Oasis and Everpure tomorrow to inquire about decibel ratings.. pretty sure I can cross Evercold off the list per loves2cook above. Or maybe I should ask them too, for comparison.

Bumping back to top before this gets lost. I would love to hear more. What are the brands everyone has? Pros/cons? We also would like to get one when we remodel next spring. Bottled water dispensers are quiet and cold...but I'd like to use our perfectly good filtered tap water! thx!

Mooring girl, what else do you have under your sink cabinet if you don't mind answering such a personal question? Can you fit a garbage disposal down there as well?

You might be able to fit a small garbage disposal, but it would be tight.

Here's the list:
18in diamter x 7in deep sink
sink drain
four stage water filter
water chiller
insta-hot tank
water hoses from filter to cold faucet to chiller to faucet
water hoses from filter to hot faucet to insta-hot tank to faucet
water hose from filter to ice-maker (next to sink base)
drain hose from ice-maker to sink drain

There is virtually no clear space on the cabinet floor. And there are a lot of hoses going everywhere. My contractor calls the whole shebang the "processing plant."

FWIW, all of this stuff is part of an 8ft wet bar that is at the end of the kitchen and overlooks the living room. The bar has a 24in sink base, 15in ice maker, 15in wine captain, 15in base cabinet, and 24in bar fridge. With the exception of the additional faucet, the bar is the only thing that did not change during the remodeling process.

EverCold water chiller is Junk. After 5 years the sealed condenser will need to be recharged and because it is sealed, they will tell you it is cheaper to buy a new one. Why would they sell something that expensive that they know will need to be replaced in 5 years. I just spoke to their sales support and was very disappointed to be told the very expensive water chiller I purchased in 2012 will have to be replaced because it will no longer chill water and condenser will cost too much to be recharged. Don't buy it, it is time to hold companies accountable for making JUNK!

Anyone else have any more recent input on this? Curious as to whether people still like the Oasis ProSelect chiller. We were planning to go with the Joneca Ready Chill but apparently they are completely sold out and don't know when they will be back available, so we're back at square 1 trying to choose a chiller.

I am also interested in recent recommendations for under sink water chiller. Which brand do you use? How cold does water get? What kind of maintenance is required. How much space does it take? Would you recommend it? How noisy is it?

I know this is an old thread but wondering if anyone has any updates or recommendations for an undersink water chiller that is not very loud?
