Gel Mats...first Impression

My Gel Mat was delivered yesterday. First impression was that it was thinner than I thought it would be (than it looked on line and on TV). Isn't as cushy as I thought it would be and it's moving (I can fix that). Haven't had it long enough to know how well it's going to help my feet and legs. Was anyone else surprised at how thin they are?

I too thought it was much thinner than expected, but mine DOES NOT move. What kind of flooring do you have? My mat is on Porcelain tiles...

I just ordered one today for my mother as a Christmas gift - now I'm anxious for it to arrive to see the quality. Watching this post anxiously!!!

mari, my floor is porcelain tile too. I can put that sticky "mesh" on the back and solve the movement problem. I just wish it was a little thicker/denser. It may be great tho. Do you feel it's dense enough? I haven't given it a good workout.

    Monica-
Yes, I guess, at first blush, they were thinner than I thought..but if you think about it...if they were much thicker, you'd need to "step" onto it. I think you could easily trip if it was thicker.

Give it a chance, the "gel" feel will kick in as you're standing on it and are thinking about it. Then, once you're used to them, you'll just notice overall that your legs feel better.

Mine slipped on my hardwood so I put some rubbery drawer liner (buy it by the roll) under it. Now they don't slide at all.

Oh, yeah, it's dense enough. Don't worry about that. I haven't noticed any problems in that area, nor do I expect any.

I really think it's just the newness of the feel to you. You'll enjoy it more very soon, I predict. And if you just don't...their Customer Service is FABULOUS!! I originally ordered a short one and a long one. Once I got them, I realized I wanted three long ones. I emailed them; they responded immediately and got me squared away.

I keep watching their website...because the minute I see custom sizes, I'm ordering a custom one to replace the 3 side-by-side ones and I'm moving the "old" mats to other places in the house! I might also get one of the fun colors for in front of my main sink. I realize I stand there a lot, too. I notice the difference between the cushy feel at my prep sink and the hard, throw-rug feel at my main sink.

    Good luck!!

I think you're probably right about the newness. I am sure if I stood on a regular mat I would notice the cushy feel. The sample I saw seemed a lot thicker though..
