Lighting fixture vote please!

I feel like I need to create a post called "style around these kitchen cabs"

ANYWAY, after falling in love with tinker 2006's kitchen and the fixtures esp.. I am inspired to finally purchase fixtures and get that much closer to finishing my kitchen. I love much of the what can be found on the School House Electric site, but these in particular with this shade.

We had always planned on going with pendants centered over the two windows, but I have gotten used to the dangle height of the temporary fixtures. Does this space beg for pendants or could we go with two ceiling mounts?

Secondly, just because I drool over them in tinker's space, will they be appropriate in mine? Thanks so much for any input. BTH, we were going with a matte black finish. Can certainly be talked into nickel.

What type of hood are you planning? I think that 2 pendants and a chimney hood might be a little visual overkill. If you are planning on doing an undercabinet hood, then two pendants over the sink would be great.

Thanks greendesigns! I was thinking that might be the case after I put tape up on the walls to show the scale of the hood. We have ordered a 36" Zephyr chimney style.

I agree that pendants would be overkill..... a semi-flush mount or flush mount choice would not block a view or clutter.....

BTW, if you like Schoolhouse Electric, you might also like Rejuvenation Hardware. They have similar historical lighting.

I love the look of the semi-flush with the black hardware and white glass. Your countertops look dark, and the black fixture could tie into that.

I'd also stick with flush or semi flush unless you have a taller ceiling. I am not a huge fan of lights too close to one's face.

awww.. first thank you!! I struggled with every decision, so I know it's hard to choose! I also wasn't sure about the vintage brass fixture color, when all my hinges and knobs are brushed nickel, but I like that it's not all the same, and I think the black would look great! I do love the black (#3) picture.. it's a great looking light! What are you dong with the center light, will it be the same? I think doing 2 pendants over the sinks might be a little too much, unless they were very small ones (I've seen that and it looks great too!) how how are your ceilings? For my other kitchen ceiling lights, I ended up returning the semi flush school house lights and went with flush mounts.. which looks a like nicer to me with my 8' ceilings.

I vote third ( black one on right side)
    It will be perfect.

Thank you lolauren, dianolo, mhohe, and boxerpups! This is a big help and I feel like I am on the right track. Thanks tinker 2006 for your great kitchen! Do you all think that the shade on the left would look good with the fixture on the right? I plan on using flush mount for the center light. Thanks again.
