Marmoleum issues....skuffing

I have the marmoleum tiles, they get skuffed and scratched

pretty easily. I know it is a soft product, wondering

if anyone has found a way to get rid of the skuffs without

affecting the surface of the tiles. Of course it is most

notiable where the light hits. I have tried the white eraser and a non scratch pad but both marred the surface.

If you find a way, I'd love to know it. I am more concerned about the gouges, but know they are permanent.

Armstrong makes a Commercial Floor Cleaner S-485 specifically for cleaning linoleum floors. Have you tried that? I used ther SatinKeeper immediately after my Marmorette was installed and I haven't had any skuffing or scratching. Maybe you could try the cleaner and then put on their Satinkeeper floor finish (they also make a Shinekeeper with a higher gloss) to minimize future wear and tear.

As for gouges, my installer showed my how to shave off fine slivers of linoleum from leftover pieces by taking a knife and scraping against a linoleum edge. He said you could make a paste with the slivers and glue and use it to fill in spots. I haven't tried it but perhaps you could practice on some leftover tiles and see if it helps.

I got the same tip from my installer. Save a remnant piece and use the side of a knife to create shavings. Mix with a bit of elmers glue and fill the hole. After it dries, lightly sand it with a small grit paper. All done.

It really make me wonder if the tile product is somehow a different grade than the sheet. I doubt it, but I haven't problems in 7 months with ours.

We have a lot of scuffs and scrapes in ours. We rarely wear shoes in the house and then they have rubber soles. It has been in less than a year and the trouble started before we removed the tarps that had been protecting it from construction. I hand clean spot areas with a sponge and baby the heck out of it...
I would try the gouge filling trick, but won't any water dissolve the Elmer's?

Dianalo--is yours sheet or tiles? This is the first I've seen of problems with Marmoleum.

I have read elsewhere that it can be prone to scuffing, but with much harder use than what you are describing. We wear all our shoes on it since it is in the entry and no problems yet.

Here is a site that describes how to remove scuffs. I hope this helps!

How about using Marmoleum's floor finish? I really like linoleum floors, but I like them best with that clean glossy, dirt-can't-stick look. Then any scuffs will be in the finish.
