I hate this layout

I've been working with a couple of different kitchen people and haven't really liked anything they've come up with so far. Am looking for ideas and suggestions. I still haven't decided if I want the sink under the window or in the island. Also I am torn between a retangular island or more of a corner one. I am going to try and post the renderings I've gotten so far. Cathi

cathi... your links didn't work for me. Try again in a different formal. I can promise you that you'll get amazing response and unbelieveable suggestions from the people on this forum, There are several who are truly amazing with layouts (not me but I love to try and learn as I go!)

This is my first time posting pictures. Sorry for the duplication. My kitchen is 12' on the window wall and 12'7" on the other wall. They have framed in a pantry/closet on the right hand end of the longer wall. We were planning on putting the fridge at the left end of the window wall. Every thing else is still in the planning stage. I think the area around the window looks unbalance. Thanks again for any suggestions.

OK..I know others are going to ask at least some of these questions so I'll start. What is below the overhang? How many cooks, kids, type of cooking you do, baker?, how deep is the sink run, clearances? I'll stop there so I don't overwhelm you.

Do you know why or have a reason that the range isn't centered on the back wall? It seems crowded toward the oven.

You didn't ask about the appearance, but the cabinet staggering is a bit odd to me (backward of what I'd expect at the stove area), and I'm not crazy about the valence thing over the window.

Did you ask for the appliance garage? It's taking up some valuable counter space.

Can you post a layout (floorplan with accurate measurements shown) rather than renderings? It'd be easier to help.

Looks like you have a space sized similar to mine ,
I am also doing an island sink. I'm sure if you post
a floorplan (hand drawn is fine) you will get awesome
    help!

I'm just heading out and layout isn't my strongest suit but to be honest follow your gut - I think your right. The layout feels busy to me with staggering of the cabinets and the narrow cabs around cooktop. I'm not sure what you call the shape of the cabinet in the corner but I think you would be much better off doing something else. I find the one glass door odd - it is either one too many or not enough. What are you planning to do with all the open space at the top? With the possible exception of the cooktop the locations of everything seem Ok but I think the cabinetry may be a bit off (maybe quite a bit). Lots we can't see, what is happening with the base cabinets? Things like this are very subjective but as I mentioned before I find the uppers very frenetic (there up, there down, there wide, there narrow, there pulled out, etc). I would prefer something less busy and a bit more balanced. If a KD gave me this layout I would, depending on what I had told them, be rather concerned. My advice would be to start simple and think about how you will use the space and then add your layers rather than starting with all this variation.
