Small bathroom upgrades

I just bought a home with a small bathroom and need to make a few changes. The wall color was a chocolate brown, which I have since re-painted Benjamin Moore Stone Harbor to lighten things up (attached picture has old wall color). I want to tackle the vanity next. I don't like the current vanity top, but it is not in budget to replace it right now. I'm having a hard time finding a paint color for the base of the vanity to make the red vanity top look its best. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

It may be less expensive to change the vanity top than you think. This one at Home Depot is $78 for 31" wide. Countertop and sink in one. No grout lines to keep clean. You can reuse your faucet. Newport 31 in W x 22 in. D AB Engineered Composite Vanity Top in White with White Bowl

I presume trim throughout the home is white and that goes well with red and gray. If trim is oak, like the cabinet, consider painting all of it white. Or check rustoleumtransformations.com for a product that will change the cabinet.

Its hard to see what colour the floor is but hopefully it has the same undertones as Stone Harbour. I would paint the cabinets in the same family as Stone Harbour such as Calm 2111-70 in a satin finish .and definitely change the handle and knobs to chrome. You may even like the counter top once you get rid of the natural wood tone.

With a vanity this size you could very likely fine a reasonably priced remnant at a local countertop fabricator. Definitely worth a look. Hate for you to put effort into painting this vanity when the top is not something you actually like.

Thank you all for the suggestions!! The floor is just basic white tile and the trim is a cottagey-white. I don't know the exact color as the previous owner painted it.

Of course white will go with anything. but take a look at a color wheel. Anything opposite of grey or red would be good for nice pops of color. It really all depends on what kind of look you want.
Beachy: greys, blues, cremes, sandy-colors, and of course, pops of red.
earthy: greens, red, blue, and browns ( i would also sugesst a fern in the bathroom for it could live off steam)
