I ran straight to the g/h to check all my Ferocactus. None are anywhere close to flowering. What a great display.

Is that Ferocactus latispinus? In December? That's a nice compensation for living in hurricane alley!

I bought this plant maybe five or six or more years ago when it was just a wee baby at walmart or some such place, and this is the first time it has flowered. When I saw buds on it last month I thought they would never open what with all the cool weather and short days, but what a nice surprise it has been!
I think Shrubs has nailed the name to the best of my knowledge.

What a knockout! I didn't realize it was F. latispinus from the top photo! I've got one just like it but it hasn't bloomed in the time I've had it. Hopefully it's reached a large enough size that it will this year. I'd love to see flowers like that on mine!!! Just amazing!
