Can't figure out what BCB refers to. But as the above link shows: Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile) -- you need to scroll nearly to the bottom.

It's a stored product pest, likely in the cupboards or pantry. So, it looks like you have a project on your hands -- inspect; toss all infested products; repackage the as yet uninfested goods; thoroughly clean pantry/cupboard.

As stated at the above link: "Damage: Feeds on seeds of all kinds, dead animals, cereals, candy, cocoa, cookies, corn, corn meal, dog food, fish meal, flour, dead insects, milk powder, nut meats, dried peas, potato chips, noodles, spaghetti, and dried spices. Prefers such foods as barley, wheat, mixed animal feeds, processed grains, some grocery products, and pollen."

Hi, that's what i was afraid of. This was in my daughter's room; she had some sort of larder beetle that she brought home from college at the holidays in a bottle for me to inspect. Could she have brought this larva home on her clothing? I haven't seen any downstairs in my house (yet) but I have stripped her room and will thoroughly clean all and inspect the rest of my house. Yech!

    thanks for the ID

More help please. Ok the other day I found 2 of these larvae, one large and one smaller. I disposed of them. They were on the bed of a mostly unoccupied room. The last time my daughter was home was January. The bedclothes were washed when she went back to school. Today I washed all the bedding, including the pillows, and the couple of teddy bears that sit on the chair. I vacuumed and looked for anything resembling eggs. I emptied out the few pieces of clothing stored in plastic under the bed and the nighttable. I'm washing EVERYTHING. I haven't seen any other larvae, eggs or beetles. Where else should I be looking, where do they typically lay their eggs? I want to make sure they are GONE! After winter breakI went through my pantry and discarded anything open and cleaned the shelves, too. What else can I do? HELP!! This is making me crazy.

This could equally well be from the genus Attagenus. Do you have either fitted carpets or loose rugs? Lift them and vacuum underneath as thoroughly as you can. They especially like natural fibers in carpets and underlay.
