What color should we go with for some bath rugs ?

If you mount the top of the shade at the top front of the wood trim, it looks like you'll be OK in that corner. I don't think you have room for an inside mount anyway. The pottery barn website has a "mounting shades" video. Check it out and I think it will make sense. Here are a couple examples of how it will look. You'll just mount right onto the front face of that trim piece above the window.

Thanks for all the advice ! And yu think I should just should I just stick w a white roman shade ? Maybe I will buy one test it out before I custom order a size
  • 11 years ago
Well, a white background with a gray border would be very nice but the grays would have to work together. If you go with white, it's a safe bet.

Beautiful bathroom! What is the flooring?
thanks ...It's a white washed ceramic tile...got it at Home Depot ...

I just can't envision anything more perfect than white. I'd also make sure all your visible towels are white. Perhaps sea foam colored soaps on a white porcelain soap dish. A very small vase with fresh flowers.

I tried a colored rug after I had white hex tile laid & it just came up & hit me in the face, if you know what I'm trying to say. I like the Roman shade idea taken down to just above the molding where the candles are. Do it in a white with very light grey or blue. I would choose a white rug with just a little grey or blue as well. Beautiful bath. Enjoy!

By all means bring in a little color with the use of a live orchid.

these are the two final choices ...white or white linen roman shade?
They're both nice. Which do you like better with the whites in the room?
I like them both ...I like the look of the linen...although i think in this room the crisp white may just be better..?
    I'm thinking the same thing.
Actually...looking in all different lights...I think the material on the linen is just nicer looking...think that is the final choice... :) thanks everyone

Please post a pic when they're up:)

    will do ... :)

The curtain came in and we are so dissatisfied. We ordered a levolor custom shade , which I would never recommend. The quality is awful...ESP for the price. Waiting for an answer back from them to see if returning it is an option. :(
  • 11 years ago

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that!

I spoke to levolor. We could either reorder this same shade with a custom valance or we could order a different product from them...what do you think?

The shade itself isn't bad. The top piece looks a little weird and plastic, but with the window being short, a valance could make that shape seem more pronounced. Are there different levolor products that are similar but with fabric at the top (but not a valance)? I have linen shades in my living room and the top portion is just a linen strip. But, maybe I'm just being too picky and no one will ever give it a thought.

I saw pottery barn has roman shades that are the correct width and we would just have to shorten...but hate to have to buy another one...levolor has these that they call roller shades...

I do like the PB shades. We've installed them in three rooms at my daughter's house as I've been helping her with her decorating. I also like this roller shade. I have some of those (but not Levolor) in my house and they're very nice.

Here is a picture of levolor a roman shade w a valance...
We just got pottery barn shades in our kitchen and love them ! The quality is excellent ...we just would have to shorten them...not really sure you could do that ? And hate to spend more $$
  • 11 years ago
I'm thinking maybe try the roller shade.
Not only the top of the levolor roman shade is plastic but if you look at the sides you can see the plastic piece sticking out and I hate that !

Oh, that's a very small valance and nice looking. Thanks for posting that pic as it wasn't what I was envisioning. That would be just fine.

I was wondering about shortening the PB shades too. Since they're at my daughter's house and not mine, I can't go look at one, but I was wondering.

Valance on this or roller shade ?

If you had the valance on that, how bad would the look of the plastic piece from the side be?

Probably still be bad ..it's hard to tell from the pictures online ...I will never order from levolor again...we spent the same price as the pottery barn ones ...
go with white shutters. IMHO you will have same problem with PB shade.
btw. it is a beautiful bathroom
    Thanks hope

So, are you thinking the levolor roller shade to avoid the plastic?

    Yes

Probably wise since it sounds like the plastic is bothersome to you. I'd probably feel the same way.

    It's just made so cheap...
    I ordered the valance...Thanks everyone
  • 11 years ago
I found these on sale at pottery barn

Those natural fiber ones from PB are very pretty. Could you cancel the valance order and return your shade if you decide to go with the PB option?

Levolor will not accept a return...they are sending me the valance at no cost...or I could exchange for something of equal or less value...but I did go ahead and order that pottery barn one bc it was clearance ...but final sale.... so hopefully it looks good !!

Yeah, I looked at it on the PB site and the price was fantastic!

    Done

Oh, very nice! I bet you're pleased with that one!

    Yes !

Did you have to shorten it or do you just pull it down as far as you need it and it works fine as is? I do think PB shades are super nice.

    No shortening needed....

Have you found a rug yet? By looking at the tiled shower, marble tub, and making the colors go together with the floor and white base boards my guess in color would be either a really really light gray, silver, or sage/celadon which goes with the tile in the shower. Sage or Celadon would be my vote
  • 11 years ago

I like color myself. I'd definitely wake the room up with towels and a rug in a color besides white and gray. You could change them with the seasons which would be fun.

Like your new shade. You made a good choice. I like a pair of smaller washable bath mats in several colors to change out. Try homegoods or BBB if in your area. Smaller ones are not expensive. I wash them every week - bathrooms are busy. So, remove the used and put down the clean (ok wash the floor first). You've had suggestions for several colors: purple, more grey, light blue, etc. keep all one color of towels (gray, white, cream, etc) while you decide on a color, then u can see if you want an accent color. Just add one accent item as you try each color - as simple as $1.00 liquid soap to give you some idea of the color and how much to use. Have fun.
