Hello, excellent question! You can trim this pad with scissors but it might dull the blade of regular household scissors. We suggest trimming the pad with a retractable utility knife or x-acto knife. We also typically cut our pads to be slightly shorter than the rug pad size ordered so it should be able to fit under your rug. If you do not want to trim the pad at home, you can always call our office after you place your order through Houzz to confirm that we get the exact size of your rug.
