Backsplash conflict

We are trying to pick a backsplash for our modern/contemporary kitchen. Gloss white cabinets, white quartz counters wood floor and stainless appliances so wanted to inject a bit of warmth with marble for that "I could bake some bread in here.." kinda kitchen. Choice on left of counter is porcelain tile made to look like Marble slab. Cannot be book matched so may present an issue. Choice on right is herringbone marble (ignore subway tile on top) which may add more interest but could also look busy. Too many decisions to make, leaving this one up to you....

Neither quite works for me with the modern cabinets and solid white looking quartz. Have you considered glass tile?

Slab has more impact and wow factor, herringbone is timid. Go bold!

Marble slab, Carrara has the least amount of grey veins, Venatino has more grey veins & Calacata Oro has both grey and gold tones if you want to add some warmth to go with your hardwood floors.

There is not enough contrast with these choices; and in general, marble and modern white is not the best pairing. Why are you attracted by the marble?

I would have liked the slab if it really was a slab and you wouldn't have grout lines. So I prefer the herringbone. I like the mix of old and new - I have a very similar kitchen and did marble hexagons for mine. This was an inspiration kitchen for me.

I like warmer veining you get to see in the bigger tile, but I'm afraid with the 12 x24" size you're going to have seams and grout lines in less than desirable and awkward spots. Have you worked those out on paper? The installation might be better off with a smaller marble tile that still has veining, like a Carerra subway, or even a 12x12 version of the porcelain tile you've selected. Just a thought.

I ended up doing the large porcelain marble tile. Looks great! Really makes the kitchen and looks a lot more $$$
Has not been grouted yet but I'm very happy we didn't do a tighter pattern.

Looks gorgeous! We just did marble subway, but I wish I'd done a slab instead (well, without the cost).
