Yes, always tasteful, but sometimes, a surprising pop of color in an unusual shade can be great, too. There are some wonderful plum browns out there, for example. Get nose-to-nose with your brick and see if you see something in it that would look nice with a door color. It is hard to see in your photo.

I would pull to one of the darker colors. But the lighter brighter colors will of course stand out more.

If the siding is a taupey brown, I personally would do a lighter grey/steel blue.

Black if you want stately. Carribean blue if you want a pop.

Aubergine (eggplant).

A medium coral would contrast beautifully with the browns and taupes and really create a welcoming front entrance to your new home.
