Farm Sink Counter Surround

OK, today on a remodeling show they installed a farm house sink diving the concrete counter into the middle of the top rounded edge of the ceramic farm sink. I've regularly noted overhang of counter (with the front free, of course) and also, counter material butting up to ceramic edge. To those with farm sinks out there, how is your top edge handled? Do you like it? And, do you have an issue with food trapping in the junction?

I don't get the whole farm sink rage so just my opinion.

Cathy, do you mean like this? I don't have a farmhouse sink, but most photos I've seen seem to have the counter edge this way or similar. I don't care for the look, but it seems like the most practical way of handling drainage from the counter. I do love farmhouse sinks for their size and plain styling.

Thank you all for responding, they kinda mirror my confusion. I'm loving function of the single (undivided) sink bowl, but maybe a ceramic farm house sink isn't the way to go. Will this style date a kitchen in a decade or two? Who's to say. Heh, heh, galvanized tubs just may be next - good call.

Here's one installed with the sink edge above the counter. See what I mean? To me this looks much nicer than with the sink below the counter, but it's less practical for counter drainage. My current sink (not a farmhouse) is similar, and it's not that big of a deal, but I had to find a dish drainer with a piece that hangs over the edge to let the water drain into the sink.

Makaloco, when I see that installation, I imagine myself scrubbing the outside seam with Clorox. The particles collecting in those edges likely would drive me round the bend. Yup, call me crazy - and that thought (could it be phobic?) is what prompted my dilemma. Thanks to Houzz, and you, to help us put features into our big-money remodels that we will not regret.

I have the same thought when I look at the inside seam in the other photo. I guess I'd rather Clorox outside than inside, but I'd just as soon not do either! My overmount sink has a heavy layer of clear silicone around the edge that so far hasn't required special cleaning. Maybe that's how they do it?
