love the greys. where can I find them?

If you are not working with a designer, play with paint samples on various walls in your space to see if you get the effect you want. We would also be glad to provide you with a if that would be valuable. We want your space to reflect it’s own beauty, and your style.

It "shows" the designer's priority is pleasing her clients who've paid $$$ for her services. I can understand how some people might take issue with their designer giving away design advice that they had to pay for. Apparently it's happened before to this designer and not worth the professional risk to anger her clients. Not really fair to malign her character because she didn't share a paint color... she is not obligated to do so.

Thank you, @ksho!! So glad you understand... I have provided paint colors in the past and we received blow back because the color wasn't what they saw on the screen AND we've had upset clients, as well. So, we'll just have to file this under "you can't please everyone". I appreciate both sides of the argument because I do love to share information. And, though this is a community forum, I do have a design firm with staff I have to support. So, we can't give away free advice that others have paid for.

There is a free Ap called "color snap" by Sherwin Williams. You can download the photo and then the ap will match up the color to the Sherwin Williams inventory. Or, you can always just bring the photo into any paint store and they will match up a sample. Technology these days is really helpful. Although I do understand the designer not wanting to share. It is her/his end product. Albeit, there are plenty of other pics on Houzz that have this color and have shared the paint color. Also, keep in mind what my husband and I learned from having our new home painted just this week--although you might like a color in a photo, it will not look the same in your home due to lighting and other factors that affect the paint such as lighting or lack of it in your space. Believe me, we are not designers--just regular people--but we spent minimal of $6 for each can (about 1 pint) of sample paint until we found the right color for our existing walls. It was worth it! At the end, although we used Houzz.com as a resource to educate us, we chose similar paints from the many photos I have in my ideabook but with the exception of one color, all of the others were variations based on the photos that we did like. So, sample painting on your walls, worked for us. We needed to get it right for our home. Hope that helps.

You're very welcome Beth! I haven't been on Houzz that long (I love it btw) but it really amazes me some of the rude comments of seen. Seems some people have a real entitlement attitude and take issue with designers when they don't and even when they DO try to help. Just the fact that you're sharing all these inspirational photos is great. Of course, I do appreciate when designers share info that I've asked for and some have. But I certainly can understand your position and it's at your discretion if you wish to share or not (for the reasons you've given).

And so true anyway, that colors look completely different depending where they will be used. This happened to me recently when I painted what I thought was Grey (BM Grey Owl) in my kitchen and wound up with a BLUE kitchen! I even DID do samples but once it went on the wall it just looked completely different! I'm changing to F&B Light Gray (looks almost greenish in comparison but reads grey in the room).

And thanks Esther for the SW app tip I'll definitely take a look at that. I'll be repainting my entire house so lots of colors left to choose!

gntbator, If you're comment is directed at me... no I'm not a "coworker", not even a designer. Just someone who respects other people's right to share (or not share) whatever info they choose without having their character attacked, or nasty comments directed at them. There is no excuse for rudeness... Just because you 'ask' doesn't mean you're 'entitled' to information.

Beth Dotolo. Other Designers on Houzz have no problem sharing what color the paint is on the wall. If you don't share info about your design then you are on the wrong site. Why do you think HOUZZ has a function for asking questions? Do you think we want to know how your day went? You are either breaching a Houzz agreement or at least you are breaching the spirit of the relationship. If you want to keep it private, don't post the picture.

I could care less about the color of her walls. I'm commenting on the designer's reply. I'm not a moocher and neither is the lady who asked what color the walls were. And neither are the 3.5 million people on this site that ask what color are the walls, the floors., or the tiles. That's what the question section is for. And out of all the years I've been on this sight, this is the one and ONLY time I've seen a negative reply from a designer. Just saying....

It looks similar to sherwin williams “peppercorn”. BUT get a sample before buying gallons of the product. “Light french gray” is a beautiful compliment color because it cast no greens or blues. Just pure gray.
