Are you certain those are Columbine seeds? I've never seen any like that.

I think what you really need are Antirrhinum seed pods.

I agree those look more like Antirrhinum/snapdragon than columbine.

In answer to your question, columbine can take many months to germinate and at lower temps than you might have in your climate....placing the pots sown with seed in your refrigerator several weeks could be necessary to break dormancy depending on which columbine.

I don't know quite what direction you are going with the art/pods, but nigella is an easy annual with pods that can be interesting.

This is what I'm used to seeing on Columbine/Aquilegia.

they are quite papery, not woody.

I agree with the other posters that your pods don't look like columbine, but snapdragons. Where did you get your seeds? Have you tried wintersowing? If the seeds are very fresh, they may not need the cold treatment.

I'm just wondering, if you've only ever seen a picture of these seed pods if you are aware of the true scale of them? They are not very big. Maybe 1/2 to 1 inch long. Will that be big enough for use in your craft work?
