Irrigation Outage

Had a power outage at my home. I reset the GFI switch that my system is plugged into and when I turned on the system, the sprinkler heads would not pop up for any of the zones. Is there something else I need to check/reset/fix. Thanks so much for any comments/suggestions.

Whats the name or model of your controller?
    Have you reprogrammed the controller?
Do you have a multimeter at home?

The model is an Irritrol, 18 station controller. I unplugged the controller and took out the back-up battery and then re-attached. I am not sure what you mean by re-programmed it. I have tried to put the zones on manually with the controller. Not sure what a multimeter is either. I am sorry I cant answer your questions. Can you tell me what a multimeter is?

A multimeter is a handheld tool used to check the function of the timer and wiring. They are less than or around $10 at the hardware store. They usually have a dial and digital screen. If you can obtain one, they are very simple to use, and good if you are trying to avoid a house call. Do you think you could obtain one?

You probably have the Irritrol Total Control 18. Re-programming is when you turn the dial to the different items and set your stations, run times, current day, time, etc. When you remove the battery and power, often times this will reset that controller and it will be necessary to reprogram your stations.

Excellent info. I will look in to that meter. But first I will re-program. I did not think of re-programming because I was just trying to run it manually. But if you think I should do that first, I will right now.

If you reprogram and are still having issues, I would get the multimeter. If you call Irritrol (1-800-634-8873) they can walk you through how to use that tool while you are at the timer. If you have that tool and a screwdriver ready (in case they need you to remove any wires), it will be easier for them to determine the problem over the phone.
