Last year was my first for rooting cuttings, and out of over 40 that made it I never saw roots that thick that soon. Do you think it is a feature of a particular variety, or the health of the particular cutting, or something that you did thad made it grow that well?

Last year was my first year as well for rooting cuttings. This year I am having more success with moist coco coir. The JH Adriatic cuttings I received were large and high quality and have all rooted well for me. I started them in a plastic box with nothing but moist coco coir and made sure to air them out every day. That really thick looking root is actually about three growing side by side. I waited until the roots were about 2 inches long before transferring them to the 2 liter SIP. Now they sit in a warmish room right next to the window. I have another that looks just like this one except it was stared maybe a week later and a few more that I just started and are already showing root initials. All that I have in the SIP is coco coir and a bit of Osmocote. It looks a bit better everyday!

I would love to try and root some fig cuttings if I could get some to try and instructions. Would love to try LSU Champaign, Strawberry Verte and JH Ardriatic. Want something with a sweet taste. Macmikeal (at) me (dot) com
