Hi everyone - I live on the east coast of Australia and I'm new to growing Ginger. I was given a plant by a friend a couple of years ago and it's presently flowering and I'm now curious to know its identity.

It is about four feet in height and seems to be quite prolific with it's growth habit. I would appreciate any cultural tips anyone may be able to give me as I'm still "feeling my way" with these plants.

I originally planted it in a pot and then planted it in the garden (pot and all in case I had to relocate it). It's now well and truly out grown the pot and I need to know about dividing and re-potting requirements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
