I never use my Yahoo account. I only use the email address when I need to sign up for something that I don't fully trust not to sell my address to spam mail servers. It really helps to keep my gmail and ISP email accounts fairly clear of spam. So the above 'solution' was found after a google search. Looking through my own yahoo page, I also do not see this option, so it must be outdated. And I can't seem to find another option anywhere else. That said, I only have two emails saved in my contacts list, so apparently Yahoo has not been automagically saving new contacts for me. I will keep looking to see if I can stumble across a solution for you.

Edit: And here is something I have found.

Mouseover the Cog on the right upper side.

Click 'Settings'.

Click 'Writing Email'.

Uncheck 'Automatically add new recipients to Contacts'.

This sounds like it only saves emails in your contacts list if you respond to someone, not if you read their emails, but it might be worth a shot. Also, on the off-chance you have a virus that is sending out emails (and thus adding the contacts), check your Sent Mail to see if there is anything there that you didn't send.
