I like the Humzingers - easy to clean, built in ant moat and don`t drain out the nectar in my windy corner of the world. They are a little pricey, but come with a lifetime warranty.

I recently found the "new & improved" Perky-pet pinch waist feeder and I really like them. Wide mouth bottle is easy to clean along with the base, doesn't seem to drip. Tho the bee guard just seems to slow the bees down, doesn't really prevent them from feeding. But the presence of bees doesn't seem to stop the hummers from feeding at all.

I found them at ACE hardware, but have also seen them at Wally-mart.

I love my Humzinger.

I had a feeder with a bee guard and it had failed to keep the bees and yellowjackets away. One day one hummer complained with such vigor he got me stirred up right along with him. There were so many yellowjackets he couldn't feed! Later we discovered my neighbor had a yellowjacket nest in a bush over in the front of her house and they came nonstop after they discovered my feeder.

The Humzinger did the trick, however. The yellowjackets couldn't feed off it and stopped coming around after that. Good riddance to them, the won't be back (they only use the nest for a while and abandon it at season's end). I hope to have enough hummers this summer to need a second Humzinger around the side of the house in case of territoral arguments.

Another vote for the Humzinger. They make two sizes. I don't get many hummers at a time so I put out two of the small feeders on opposite sides of my yard.

I like them because they're so easy to clean. I never have to worry there might be mold hiding anywhere, which can sicken a hummingbird.

I also love humdingers because they're easy to clean.

However, I did find a smudge of mold in one of the portholes during the hot period last summer. I was cleaning them with just hot water, no soap, and not using a brush on the holes. I was cleaning and refilling the same feeders each time, so there was an incentive to hurry the cleaning up.

Since finding the mold speck, I got extra feeders so that I always have clean feeders to fill. Then I can take a little more time cleaning the dirty feeders, and put them in the dishwasher for extra safety.

Interesting, so you can put the Humzinger lid in the top rack of the dishwasher? No melting? I might try that.

I do have four and put out only two at a time. So the ones that are inside being cleaned have 2-3 days to totally dry out. That probably helps to keep the mold away, too. But they are designed so well for easy cleaning.

Hi, Sandy. Yes, easy to clean, that's why I love them. Unless I'm wrong, the information provided by humdingers itself says they can be done in the dishwasher. And yes, I put them on the top rack at least a dozen times in August and Sept last year. The brass did lose its shine :D

I just checked the info from my Hummzingers, and they are officially top rack dishwasher safe. I hand wash due to lack of a dishwasher. I have two of the four-ounce minis so I can have two feeding stations. This is a new size Aspects came out with last year. The mini does not have a built-in ant moat, so I use a separate moat. Besides the reasons others have mentioned, I love this feeder because the birds perch on it and spend more time where I can see them.

I had a dream where I melted my Hummzinger lid in the dishwasher, lol. Now that I know it's okay, I might do that once in a while, wash it not melt it. It's probably a good idea to rinse it off just in case any detergent residue is left over. That's a good observation about how long they will sit on the perch. I can't remember seeing them sitting around for so long before I got this type of feeder.

I've used the Perky Pet for 3 years now. The bee guards are just starting to fall apart. It has perches, so the hummers tend to sit down and hang out longer.

I put my feeder out today after spotting a hummer nectaring on Coral Honeysuckle blooms.

I got a love my birds hummingbird last fall- technically it was a Christmas present from my hubby so I didn't get to open it till Christmas. So I can hardly wait to start using it soon!

I think you could have a mix of cheap and expensive ones, even home-made. It's like a collection.

But the other reason is that I've been reading that different feeders do appeal to different hummingbirds. Whether it's some coloring or shape of the fake flower, there does seem to be some kind of preference.

Of course, this may only matter near the beginning when trying to attract them. If you have high hummingbird activity, then even a new one will quickly get discovered and become used.

What a shock to find black mold behind the bee guards on my "pinched waist" feeders! The dishwasher wasn't getting it! Now I'm back to the humzingers. Could also just pull the bee guards for washing..
