I'm wondering why you want deciduous trees rather than evergreen?
I'm also wondering why you can't give up any lawn to accomplish this task? And,... why you have decided one variety will do?
More information and a picture would sure help. Location is also necessary for any valid answers.

I'm not looking for privacy just to kind of outline my yard. I've always liked maples and they grow fast. That's not to say I don't like others, planted six river birch last year. I don't mind cutting in mulch beds around them just don't want them twenty-five feet wide. My yard is over two acres and its about three hundred feet to to the neighbors house so I have plenty of room. So I'm just saying that I like red maples but open to suggestions for other trees or which red maple. Thanks

my only comment applies to your choice - Blaze - Acer x freemanii 'Autumn Blaze' to be more precise. It is known to have serious issues with splitting trunks as it matures. If it weren't for that issue - a nice tree with great red fall color. Might want to look at some of the other x freemanii hybrids. As for Red Maples - Acer rubrum - Sun Valley is a noteworthy selection.

If you don't want wide trees, look at the columnar forms. THe canopy is narrower so no wide spreading crown, but are prone to branch/stem splitting and lots of crossovers. Ideally, you want as many varieties of trees (in different families) as possible. That way, if a disease or insect comes to your yard, there is a limit to the number of trees they can destroy.

ONce the trees get established you can cut off the lower branches so grass will grow, However, grass grows better in slightly alkaline soils, trees in acidic soil. So if you want healthy trees, you are further ahead to give up the grass.
